Buying a Car in Doha

Hi All :)

My family is looking to buy a new car here, more specifically a Nissan Armada (http://www.nissanqatar.com/vehicles/armada/index.htm).
We don't know how long we'll be living in Qatar - we've been talking about moving back within the next few years.

Would we be able to take the car back to the US if we do end up going back soon? I've heard that the car parts and regulations are different, so long-term it wouldn't be a smart move.

Any information or experience would be very much appreciated :)

Thanks in advance,

Sarah

Go for Toyota, as any of Toyota model is a hot cake here, further i reckon if would insist on buying a new car and then importing it back to US, it wont work as the cars here are with GCC specs means more focused on the extreme hot weathers, on the other hand they are not meant to work in cold weathers efficiently.

Buy a second hand Nissan or Toyota vehicle here, and you can sell it for maybe 5% less your purchase price, after an year. For a brand new car, even if you sell it after 6 months, you may get only about 80% of your purchase price.

first check if the car you are going to buy will meet the specifications requirements with the ones in US. Cars made for ME might have different specifications for the ones made for NA.

Also check if you are allowed to import the car. As for me, there is no chance. Canada is very tough in importing cars.. or you have to pay almost full price at the custom, then what's the point?
