Car insurance co-payment - aaargh!!!

I've sent my car to be repaired, after an accident that was not my fault. The insurer is now telling me they've "changed the policy", and I must contribute 40% of the cost of the repair? I'm old (40+), and the car is not a sports model, so can they do this? The policy says Qr500 is my excess... Or is this just another example of the randomness of life in Qatar?

in my opinion they should go on with the deal they've signed with you, no matter what it is now and how their policy changed!

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
