It was not a UN translator - Gaddafi brought his own translator, and he couldn't even get that right. lol

"Colonel Gaddafi's bizarre rant at the UN was met with yawns and disbelief by delegates.

But it was to much for the eccentric Libyan leader's translator who is said to have collapsed with exhaustion during the lengthy diatribe.

The beleaguered interpreter cried 'I just can’t take it any more,' into a live microphone in Arabic after 75 minutes of Gaddafi's ramblings and was replaced by the U.N.’s Arabic section chief, Rasha Ajalyaqeen, who translated the final 20 minutes of the speech.

'His interpreter just collapsed – this is the first time I have seen this in 25 years,' a UN Arabic interpreter told The New York Post.

Gadaffi broke protocol and brought his own interpreters from Tripoli for Wednesday’s speech rather than using one of the 25 Arabic translators supplied by the United Nations, staff interpreters said.

Before his one hour and 36 minute long speech he told the U.N. that he was supplying his own French and English interpreters because he would be speaking a special dialect only they would understand, but staff interpreters said he actually spoke standard Arabic.

'This is the best team in the world – most heads of state prefer to use U.N. interpreters because then – no matter what happens – they can blame the interpreter,' another staffer told the paper.

Another Arabic interpreter emphasised with the translator's exasperation.

'He’s not exactly the most lucid speaker.

'It’s not just that what he’s saying is illogical, but the way he’s saying it is bizarre. However, I think I could have made him sound a lot better.' "

I found his suggestion for one Israeli & Palestinian state very interesting whereby having equal rights and the ability to vote within the unison of a democratic nation, could be a possible solution. But obviously a solution like this wouldn't go down well with many, including the security council :/

I loved the fact that he mentioned that Muslims have lived in peace with Jews for centuries. The terror tactics of the holocaust was the wests invention & not ours.

He pointed out the injustice of a bias system that gives favored countries the power of veto and not others countries.

Blatantly stating the huge disadvantage of belonging to an organization that doesn't give equal rights.

He pointed out the hypocrisy of the UN allowing an illegal war on Iraq and holds the perpetrators above justice.

He also mentioned that how was the hanging of Sadam allowed by an unknown party? Why were the men's faces covered, he pointed out that Sadam was a general there are special procedures for the capital punishment of such cases. He demanded an official investigation.

Yes he also called for an official investigation of JFK's assignation, and why was the sniper killed by a Jew before a trail, obviously hinting to the Israeli Mossad involvement.

I heard it live; I need it in Arabic again to translate it myself as many of his very interesting points appear to be lost in the UN translators' version.

An excerpt taken from the very colorful link posted above writes "the permanent members of the security council, or "terror council" as he renamed it. Their veto was tantamount to terrorism. "This is terrorism, like the terrorism of al-Qaida. Terrorism is not just al-Qaida, it takes many forms."

An interesting point, and why not? Just because of the civilized packaging this doesn't mean they're unlikely candidates of terrorism?

Reasoning that goes hand in hand with many who have judged him baed on his 'couture' , as ive noticed many obsessed with Ghaddafi choice of dress rather than what he is saying.

As infamous as we have chosen to portray him. Todays speech coins the meaning behind an old Arab saying :-

"Words of wisdom taken from the lips of a madman".

True that Ghaddafi is known for his eccentrics but I am inclined to admire many of the valid points he made today.

The Che was a Fool, indoctrinated by a communist believer such as Castro. The cuban communist regime and desire to conquer Las Americas has back fired! End of the story!

Chaves is just another rabid puppet of Castro, who think of himself another Simon Bolivar, his time will come eventually to put him out of his misery.

I like Gaddafi he made his Nation a place to be respected, he assumed responsibility by paying millions to the victims of Locker-be plane attack, admitted guilt behind it and he denounce Nuclear proliferation in the name of peace.

What I like the best from Gaddafi, How he ridiculizes other Arab nations, during the Opec meetings by telling them a few truthful facts in their faces.

Life is short. Break all the rules. Forgive quickly.

Kiss slowly, love truly and never regret the things that

made you laugh.

Why do you think comparing the man to Che Guevara is a good thing? While I agree with many of his philosophies (as I do Marx's) his methods where less than stellar. If it wasn't for Castro's "success" Nobody would know Che Geuvera's name.

Am watching a spot about his tent right now -- lol

Give me a break! Why does he have to pitch his tent everywhere? It's just him trying to whip up attention. He even had Libyans disguised as Dutch businessmen try to rent a NYC townhouse so he could put his tent up on the roof top terrace! Luckily he met up with Donald Trump who is just as wacky as him and let him pitch his tent on Trump property - lol

re the medicines

Well governments can give away free medicines - my country does(well a nominal fee is charged, the same for every collection so it could be a whole package of various drugs or a single packet, and if you can't afford it the it is FREE)

No, Gaddafi did not want to pay for it! What Gaddafi wanted was for all the pharmaceutical companies to just give everything away free of charge throughout the world, little thinking that the companies would cease to exist then within days.

They had to change translators as he wore the first one out.
