Rizks, who told you I am stressed when reading the subtitles? How did you figured this out? How would you determine whether I like Smurf2 or horror movies? Are you a magician?

By Rizks• 27 Aug 2013 07:58
Rizks

Palancole instead of taking the stress to read the English subtitles to keep ur stress level reduced its better to watch 'Smurf 2' or 'conjouring' or some other horror movies tat will save your purpose...:)

I am no expert at Bollywood. CE served my purpose. For QR45, it reduced my stress level and made me laugh(reading from the English Subtitles). Cheap therapy. May be if I understood Hindi, I would have peed in my pants.I will watch it again next time my stress level is up again.

Hollywood and Bollywood are upside down

Yanni... maybe 10% of the Hollywood viewership is American

while only 10% of the Bollywood viewership is NonIndian

another thing is... hardly anybody from South India (below the sahayadhri range) watch Hindi movies... maybe 10 to 20 %... and I think even from West of India the viewer ship is low...

So the market can grow much more...

of the list:

Jab tak hai Jaan

Gajni

Barfi

Bhag Milkha Bhag

and Don2

were good... rest I wouldnt go even if somebody paid me QR100...lol

once again one of the worse movies of rohit shetty...not like other movies of shahrukh...comparing ddlj and chennai...ddlj was far far better

blisteringbarnacles2007

after the first 2 movies the next 7 are all bullSheet

Just busy in turning blackmoney into white...

compared to that the last 10 malayalam movies I saw maybe 2 were bad...and not even 2 movies were alike...

Its an amazing time for Malayalam movies... there is a new generation of movie makers and its just amazing.

Ramil Yes it is of course surprising.

In terms of viewership, Bollywood overtook Hollywood in 2004 and has been leading ever since but when it comes to revenues Hollywood garnes 75% of total.

I have international statistics for other countries but FYI around 15 million Indian expatriates living in different parts of the world account for over 65% of Bollywood’s earnings and still India has 500 million population under the age of 20 which is going to keep it sustaining. :)

The secret to CE is that... they released world wide almost on the same day...

By Rizks• 26 Aug 2013 08:03

3i had good comedy with a nice message in different ways !

whereas, CE had OK comedy without any message...lols

Chennai Express is a great movie... just as 3 Idiots was... both are commedy but completely different. The Starting of CE was slow but once Deepika enters its a complete laugh riot especially for those who are able to recognise the slight slangs and accents of different regions.

But authentically she doesnt speak in Tamil... she wavers between Tamil and Malayalam... I think... but still they took great effort to bring in the slight nuances of Indian languages...

blisteringbarnacles2007

because of that megere 2107.65 millions US dollars we lost a lot... especially due to FDI foreign direct Investement...

Actually all countries have to beware of US AID...and World Bank Loans... Its the corrupt ministers who are willing take that and take a % of that as their commission... due to which these firms start to modify a country's economic policies...

Even having watched CE in one of the best multiplexes in India recently and 3i on a DVD on my laptop few years back, I can't place CE above 3i considering the class of these movies. 3i is a thorough and engaging entertainment for all ages whereas CE may appeal only to the younger audiences. Unlike 3i, perhaps the name of the movie attracted audiences from southern part of India as well, contributing to its sales figures greatly. Other reason for CE's sales success in terms of figures could be the difference in time of their releases. Add to it the blind fan following of SRK regardless of the material itself. Given both the DVDs in my leisure I would insert 3i in the player again. My opinion.

By ramil26• 26 Aug 2013 05:53

LLR, i dont know where ur statistics of audiences came from, but i dont think bolywood movies had greater audiences worldwide , lol.....

By Khanan• 25 Aug 2013 11:52

both movies '3 idiots' and 'CE' cannot be compared.

'3 Idiots' is class apart and one of the best flick to come out of bollywood..

Good for SRK, R Shetty and team :)

Why wait for that day to understand 'we'? Who knows whether we would be alive tomorrow or not. And what about the second part?

@ HQ...I honestly agree with you...:)

To be Honest we should talk about the success of movie and congratulate the movie team ;)

HGL I think you are an amature still to understand. A day will come, we all will be doing it and you will get the answer about "Who Are We".

By happygolucky• 24 Aug 2013 17:31
happygolucky

Who are 'we'? I don't see anyone else saying that.

And who are these people (refugees) who do not have home or food and why they do not have it?

By nomerci• 24 Aug 2013 17:13
nomerci

Oh...so this is not about a train then....

By landloverreview• 24 Aug 2013 17:04
landloverreview

Dont bother much HGL, we are not asking you to donate. Hollywood produces 500 films per year on average and has a worldwide audience of 2.6 billion whereas Bollywood produces more than 1000 (not consistently) films every year and has a worldwide audience of 3 Billion.

We cant help everyone in this world but whenever we have fun we can at least do something good for those who are fighting for the survival.

Just imagine 3 + 2.6 billions or even if it just 3 billions, if they make a strategy that one movie one dollar depends on the currency of their country, it would really be a help for someone who has no home or no food. :)

Just an initiative.

FYI, Ticket price hike trend was started from 3 Idiots and more screen or less screen does not matter,

3 idiot takes 45 days to reach 200 cr so If Chennai express had less screen it would also toke 45 days.

End of result Chennai express is # 1 ;)

I think Indians are also a part of this world. Though India has no refugee camp but as of 2008 India has received 2107.65 millions US dollars foreign aid. It is time for Indians to give it back.
