sorry, my question doesn't appear in the Questions section for half an hour by now... so..here you go:
What does the law of State of Qatar say (if anything) about a day off on December 25th for the Christians? Do we suppose to have one?
Thanks.
a lot of companies do understand the significance of Dec. 25 to a lot of expats. They allowed them not to work but they charge it to your allowed leave (I think it's 3 days per year aside from the legal holidays of Qatar and vacation leave of three weeks to one month depending on your company).

The worker shall be entitled to annually, leave with full wage as follows:-
1. Three working days for Eid El-Fitr
2. Three working days for Eid Al-Adha
3. One working day for the Independence Day
4. Three working days to be specified by the employer.
If the circumstances of the work require the employment of the worker during any such leave days the provisions of the article (75) of this law shall be applied to him.
Don't feel bad, you are not the only one person working the 25th, I do work on the 31st, The difference is that I get paid extra for working those days. :) Very well paid:):):), Mucho $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....

The Government of Qatar, for my understanding will not consider that a national holiday day. I believe it is up to your employer and good luck on that one.
Go ahead , I'll give you the day off on the 25th. Just don't tell your employer that I told you, OK.

depends on the employer. if most of it's employees are christians, they might probably consider them for 1 christmas off. That goes for my company :)
i'll try to request.. but we are so busy lately, I am the only one here who concerns about it..
Ok, fine, so what about December 29th - the Islamic new Year???

some private companies declared Dec 25th a holiday.
Anyway, i had just handed in my application for leave on the 25th and 1st of January
But it depends on the employer to give off day or not.
