Coming to Doha

Hi Everone,

I'm coming to Doha from Sydney, Australia in September and will be there until December as part of the 2006 Asian Games Ceremonies Team.

I've been looking through this forum and its great all the information you can get. I was just hoping everyone could fill me in on the best Resteraunts & Night Clubs as well as Shopping Malls and Large Computer Stalls, preferably an Apple Centre but any will do (Just in case I need something, like printer ink will be one).

Whats the currency on Doha and whats its value to Aussi Dollars?

Whats the typical everday fashon in Doha like?

What do the youth wear?

Whats the normal temperature and humidity between Sept and Dec?

Doha looks like a really nice city, I like the look of the Hotel and I thank you in advance for anwering any of my questions

Rick

Hello Rick!

I was just recently in Doha. I found it to be a wonderful town and i had a lot of fun. Of course, i spent my days on the beach and the night life in hotels is very good. My favourite one was in the Intercontinental Hotel, i think it's called Paloma. Fashion is just normal, but since it's pretty hot now there lot of comfortable light clothes!

Enjoy your stay :)

If you have an Apple computer and are using OS 9 or higher your calculator has a currency conversion function that will convert Aussie dollars to Qatari Riyals. You have to click on the "update currency rates" button so it will scan the latest rates for various currencies via the Internet. It is then a matter of plugging in the amount you want to convert and pushing a button to get the new amount. For example: One Australian dollar = 2.703 Riyals

Hi Rick,

there is as site called www.doha.com this has a site called the virtual tourist. Check it out.

About your computer ink etc. plenty of men on here who can help you out on this. However we have a great many computer stores where you can find things. If they don't have it they will get it from Dubai.

We have a few malls like you will have in Australia just on a much smaller scale.

Clothes: Business is mostly blue collar depending on what you are doing for business. Otherwise I suggest you bring comfortable clothes and cotton shirts as they are the best for ths type of weather.

Doha tends to cool a little to the end of October it gets to the stage that it is enjoyable and very pleasant out evenings.

You can check out nightclubs on the site and as I tell everybody wh comes get yourself a cop of the Marhaba it will help you find your way around. This is an informative book which comes out (I think) every three months. The hotel should have a copy if not you will find it easily at the "City Centre" (The main Mall) information desk.

Hope this helps
