I did it in the US, where it's much more expensive. The two things to ask your surgeon is how many of these he/she has done because success is directly correlated with the number of procedures done and does he/she do "custom" lasik (better results of 20-20.). Mine had done 30,000, including Tiger Woods (I figured that was a good endorsement.) Probably one of the biggest risks is that you will not get a good result and have to have it re-done, or the risk that you will have "halos" at night and not be able to drive. Occasionally, of course, there's the risk of infection as in any surgery. But I've never met anyone who had an infection problem.

I went ahead and did both eyes at once. My healing time was approximately 45 minutes(!) although I had to wear sunglasses for 24 hours and put drops in for a week.

Go and get a consultation, nadt, you don't have to make a decision until you've heard all the pros and cons of your case. I told the ophthalmologist I was very risk-aversive and I turned out to be an optimal patient. I now see 20-20.

yeah...A/C is one that really dries my eyes...i keep away from its air..and when in an open air, eye protection like sunglass if sunny..:)

i find in Doha i have to keep using eye drops to moisten my eyes more than when i was in australia, from the sand and the constant exposure to AC's, really dries your eyes..

i agree with vignale...protect your eyes if there's sadstorm...:)

Supernurse, my advice is like yours- use contact lenses and enjoy. (and protect the Eyes if you are in a Sandstorm....)

Coinflip, daily lenses are safer to use since monthly-lenses is more prone to irritation. ;o)

Using contact lenses in Qatar is not so great because its dusty here. I was once trapped in a sand storm months ago and my eyes were red for days.

cheers,

paul

Supernurse, I guess there are more Sand in the Air here + it is a lot hotter here in the Summer than in Europe.

Using Contact lenses in Qatar is great. I use 1-Day ACUVUE Moist, they are the best.
