COP18 a moment of celebration
Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, the Chairman of the Organizing Sub-Committee for COP18/CMP8 Doha, cited the second commitment period for the Kyoto Protocol for another eight years and several other key achievements of the negotiations, saying that he “shared the joy of having come a long way on a long journey”.
LDC's watching LCD's and taking LSD....what a world it has become
I was honored to be part of this Summit. I was part of the interpretation team who spent endless hours waiting for the negotiators to reach a decision. In fact, in the last 48 hours we worked round the clock "enjoying" the heated discussions between the Least Developed Countries (LDCs)and the developed countries over financing the lost and damage component of the deal.
Thank God it is finally over. I can relaxxx now!
YIPPPEEEEEEE
LET'S CELEBRATE LESS TRAFFIC JAMS CAUSED BY THESE.....'SUMMITS'
of what ?
Yup for the 17,000+ delegates who had 2 luxrious week and celebration for people of Qatar for the end of 2 weeks of traffic craziness.
no significant achievment.
Thank God they are all flying home first class, all that talking is really tiring.
Hardly a call for celebration given how little was accomplished--nations refusing to sign agreements that merely extend inadequate measures is hardly a successful summit.
The world's leaders agree there is a problem, yet too few bother to take serious actions. This is a global problem, and it requires global cooperation. But then what else is new?
I am not sure the outcome has been positive..Russia and Poland for example refuse to sign on another term for the Kyoto protocol.
