Why people are crossing red signals on Doha Roads? I think signals are changing quickly than on Dubai roads and its hard for the motorists to control their vehicles? Moreover, motorists are bit panic fearing the penalties as per the new traffic law.
They have timers in Bangalore also. Its a real good idea. Can avoid a lot of confusion and I dont think its that expensive to implement in Doha. I think they shud do it.

but beating a yellow light can be done accordingly. Although it is not advisable, but approaching an intersection in a high speed and suddenly stopping without considering the vehicle following you might also result in an unwanted accident.
In a straight highway where you can see the signal lights even far away, you have to depend on good judgement where start slowing down when approaching intersection, but in defensive driving, it would best to slow down a little in approaching intersections and accelerate again if passable.

really some angel could only help us by passing the timer message to the concerned authorities.......Definately a big problem would be solved for us motorists if the Timers appear on the signals.....God help us!
the thing is i aint got no 'connections' no where so hopefully some 'angel' will read this and pass it along, so come on folks more inputs for timers at the traffic lights(hope someone;s listening out there.........lol)
life's too short so make the most of it, you only live but once.......
i nearly caused my self an accident while screeching as hard as i can 2 avoid crossing a shady blinking yellow signal.. could have crossed it but then again i really didn't trust it
they really should install timers on the signals n make our lives easier
I have been here for a very short period and I started driving recently but I can say that the new traffic law didn't fix the problem in Qatar .. Before penalties people should be educated and Gov. should do more awareness programs
I witnessed my self within 2 weeks here in Doha 3 or 4 potential accidents due to lack of respect
i do agree on the timer aspect,it would really help everyone so that they could adjust their speed accordindly, hope the officials have knowledge on the timer thing and implement it soon......lets wait and see...safe driving ppl!!!
also i traffic lights here does not have standard options. some have blinking green light, some chage to yellow right away then red. several times alredy i found my self driving in the middle of the crossing in red light luckily at the moment no fines. hehehe :)
spicemom.. same here.. after i got a few speeding tickets.. i concentrate more on the lights now.. the worst r near villagio.. the green doesnt even blink..
this people who cross on red signal are the most idi*ts man i ever seen...do they don't have traffic signals way back in their country...? or the cars in their country run about 10km/hr?..mostly of them are same like us...EXPATS... oooh...how i feel sad about this guys putting their selves in danger in a foreign soil...

During normal driving its not too bad but when there is a traffic jam at the traffic light, thats the worst time ....

They should have a timer showing howmany seconds are left. I have seen it, that its starts from some 30 or so and reduces to zero.
So we will knwo exactly how much time is left to cross or wait for the next

i am looking more at the traffic lights than i am at the car in front of me/.....lol
