DAMAC properties has canceled the allotment of studio apartments according a new law and returning money paid at a 10% interest or upgrade to a 1 bedroom with a 15 % discount a the present rate.

I would like to know if there are any other investors who are affected by this action and would like to know whether you have taken any action against DAMAC.

If you are affected by DAMAC's action please contact us through QL. We would like to join you with our claim. I heard some people have gone to a court with the same matter and we would be more than willing to join you.

This is why I am very hesitant to invest locally, it's a shame I feel forced to spend money I earn locally on foreign investments and not in my own country, but what can you do?

the new completion date by damac is the end of 2012, that is for the time being. who knows it can be extended to 2014 or beyond.... per the contract the apts should have been ready by the very end of this month:( who is going to pay for the delay and the associated interests/rents????...

I engaged with a Doha Legal firm. Not cheap but I got my investment & apartment back after they "auto-terminated" without following the contract.

The words used by the lawyer and I were identical but since this was sent with Lawyers firm heading, it seemed to prompt a local response from Damac for which we reached agreement.

To date, Damac legal in Dubai has not responded. The courts could be expensive and the process lenghty.

Damac have been in trouble in Dubai through RERA(Real Estate Regulatory Authority), perhaps it's time we had a QRERA.

My advice, stay away from DAMAC, if possible.

Is there an update on this?

I also received news of the new law, the offer a refund + 10% or a new investment, which never happened. Then I received a call in January 09 saying that DAMAC had permission to build, as an exception to the law. I've now heard the new delivery date for Lusail is 2014?

Did anyone get any further on this?

I hate them with a passion.

After their scandals in Dubai you'd think I would have been hesitant however Damac are nothing but theives.

After paying a reservation fee after they promised to conclude a payment schedule we agreed to. The next day they said it was not possible, tried to give me a schedule which was 4,000 qr p/m more, AND said they can't give me my deposit back.

Now myself and 8 other Qataris are going to expose these people are get this in the article if it means destroying them. All for the sake of a deposit they tried to cheat us out of.

contact a lawyer. I have heard many people have started filing cases against some of these companies cancelling their contracts.

Stallion you mean to say the cost of the apartment was not at all mentioned in the contract!!! then what contract did you sign? that they were giving you free of charge these flats?
