dealing with CLEPTOMANIAC

chinitasai08
By chinitasai08

It's been 48 hours that i couldn't close my eyes and sleep well. For almost one year and five months of my stay here in Doha, it's my first time to experience and be with a CLEPTOMANIAC.

CLEPTOMANIAC is someone who has irrestible urges to take things. And Cleptomania is a common disorder.

It never cross my mind that someday i'll be with somebody like this. It's a NIGHTMARE i guess. I've lost valuable things (jewelries, money...etc) and most important thing i've lost my trust to one person...who happens to be my roommate.

I pity her 'coz i know it's a disorder. But thinking about the lost items she took and i know it's impossible to get back made me curse her :(

For the reason that i want to save much i share a room with two ladies...one is working and the other one is on visit visa. I never encountered a problem with this "sharing" thing coz i've been doing this since i was here in Qatar...until one day we just knew our things were already missing (that includes our money)..
we confronted her but of course she denied.

sad thing was she will be w/ us until end of this month...and i really don't know how to deal w/her after what happened...(one thing for sure, our bags which contain valuables were secured).

so guys, be very carefull w/your flatmates or roommates. now, i think better for me to get a room for myself. besides i had a GREAT trauma.

omg, chinita... really? if so... then you are much certain on that situation, who really is... so therefore bring the issue to your landlady if they are living adjascent with your room... or ask to tell your other roommate...

People with this disorder are compelled to steal things, generally things of little or no value, such as pens, paper clips, small toys, chestnuts, or packets of sugar etc.People with this disorder are likely to have a comorbid condition, specifically paranoid, schizoid or borderline personality disorder.Have you ever wonder why there are people like them? the answer in one of the psychology books, that these people who stole things without even value is desperately seeking love at home.Till here everything is alright from the medical window. But your case is not fitting this circle and I am excatly thinking as tess_916 said above.Your missing or lost things are valuable stuffs or just RANDOMLY lost items? This is the big clue which tells you that if she is really sick or a thief.

make a list of all the things missing.the person who finds the most will win a prize!

Keep some bait which she can't resist and set up a hidden camera in your room when she is away. Then you will have hard evidence against her.

Its not easy. I used to have the same problem.

I went to the Psychiatrist and said - "I think I'm becoming a kleptomaniac."

The Psychiatrist said , "Here take these tablets and if you're no better in a week ..... Bring me a colour TV"

chinitasai08 I must admit I'm a KLEPTOMANIAC, just like what Miss Popcorngirl said, it is a disorder as in Obsessive Compulsive just like me. But mine is different, I take small foods whenever I see it in our room or in the kitchen where I have to eat them first before I'll say I took one. Your roommate is a thief not a Klepto.

In my entire life I never been to getting things valuable just small foods.

Don't usually take valuable stuff, they usually take useless objects such as paper clips etc. They don't use the stuff they take they hoard it. It is linked too OCD and other disorders. I think, sadly this girl is just a thief. I would not report her myself but I would for certainly let her know that you could phone the police.

I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!

.

feed her later with an open bag, and we youve llost something, seal the bag with plpastic

and tell her:

are u going to deny this or ill bring your finger prints to the police(hi ron-ona;)

try the King Solomon's technique.... "

"to determine who's the one is the real mother...

wont certainly allow to put her child in peril..."

considering you are already a valuable/longtime boarder to your landlady/landlord... bring up your problem to your landlady/landlord.... just attempt to ask both of your roommate to pay for the items lost...

perhaps true colors will then popped up whose guilty...

if you wont get back your losses... at least you will be justified to learn from it...

is cleptomania a medically accepted disorder? like pedophilia and arsonist behaviors? or can it be treated like alcoholism?
