dealing with CLEPTOMANIAC
It's been 48 hours that i couldn't close my eyes and sleep well. For almost one year and five months of my stay here in Doha, it's my first time to experience and be with a CLEPTOMANIAC.
CLEPTOMANIAC is someone who has irrestible urges to take things. And Cleptomania is a common disorder.
It never cross my mind that someday i'll be with somebody like this. It's a NIGHTMARE i guess. I've lost valuable things (jewelries, money...etc) and most important thing i've lost my trust to one person...who happens to be my roommate.
I pity her 'coz i know it's a disorder. But thinking about the lost items she took and i know it's impossible to get back made me curse her :(
For the reason that i want to save much i share a room with two ladies...one is working and the other one is on visit visa. I never encountered a problem with this "sharing" thing coz i've been doing this since i was here in Qatar...until one day we just knew our things were already missing (that includes our money)..
we confronted her but of course she denied.
sad thing was she will be w/ us until end of this month...and i really don't know how to deal w/her after what happened...(one thing for sure, our bags which contain valuables were secured).
so guys, be very carefull w/your flatmates or roommates. now, i think better for me to get a room for myself. besides i had a GREAT trauma.
gurl, don't stress yourself too much about it... like you said, what to do eh? Bad karma will take care of her.....
girl, u woke up soooooooooo early...5:50am ur QLing :)
last nyt, i can't sleep...thinking of what happened...
well, what to do yani :) any wayz, we had a nice game last night..

sai, just look at it this way,... one way or another, in this life or the next, someone's gonna do to her what she did to you, and it'll be much worse.... bad karma, she'll get it.....
OMG, the clepto or the thief (whatever!!!) is enjoying my (our) money... huhuhu :(
MyHotComments +
yep forgive and forget... for sure, she'll get what's coming to her in due time... sai, tell your boss not to put you on night shifts anymore so we can play more often.. if it was up to me, i'd play every night.. ;)
yah really a bad experience buntsokoy..but im trying to forget it any way...
we had a good play last night mj...hope we could do it more often :)
MyHotComments +
lol sai, we have to do it more often then.. it's got therapeutic effects for me you know.. ;)
ow what a bad experience u had chinitasai, do one thing secured all your things & keep it in the place that she didn't know, do not disclose anything from her when it comes to your things... hmmmmp i hate that person! hayzzzz!
SUPERIOR man acts before he SPEAKS;..
and afterwards SPEAKS according to his ACTIONS;..
*hal ko i'm weak*
thanks Mj...
that's what im doing now...
before i had a pain in my pocket (coz i lost my money)
now that we're always playing pingpong 3hrs everyday i had a body pain hehehe...but im enjoying...and i've learned to forget what had happened.
MyHotComments +
sai, like i told you girl, she'll come up with all sorts of excuses... who knows, maybe she does this for a living, but we'll never know that eh? just look at it like this, KARMA's out to get her,.. and whatever she took from you, you'll get it back tenfolds one way or another... cheer up girl.. i think i'll have to ask you to play pingpong with me all the time to take your mind off it... take my advice, put all your valuables in a vault.. :)
what i think...she is not a klepto...=P

omg, chinita... really? if so... then you are much certain on that situation, who really is... so therefore bring the issue to your landlady if they are living adjascent with your room... or ask to tell your other roommate...
People with this disorder are compelled to steal things, generally things of little or no value, such as pens, paper clips, small toys, chestnuts, or packets of sugar etc.People with this disorder are likely to have a comorbid condition, specifically paranoid, schizoid or borderline personality disorder.Have you ever wonder why there are people like them? the answer in one of the psychology books, that these people who stole things without even value is desperately seeking love at home.Till here everything is alright from the medical window. But your case is not fitting this circle and I am excatly thinking as tess_916 said above.Your missing or lost things are valuable stuffs or just RANDOMLY lost items? This is the big clue which tells you that if she is really sick or a thief.

arrange for a hunt of all the missing things?
make a list of all the things missing.the person who finds the most will win a prize!
seriously chinita, why not confront her and tell her how you feel?
Let me keep your camera chinita.
It might end up with that clepto.
Et tu Oryx!
Keep some bait which she can't resist and set up a hidden camera in your room when she is away. Then you will have hard evidence against her.
wine glasses from restaurants. Is that Kleptomania or just young stupidity?
I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
Kleptomania means you are never short of cutlery.
My favourite soup spoon I got from a wedding in Bahrain.
thought the same xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
Lol........Brit! Trust you to come up with that!
Whatever you vividly imagine, Ardently desire, Sincerely believe and Enthusiastically act upon, Must inevitably come to pass.
Brit what does that mean half of us Londoners are Kleptomaniacs?...lol

HE WHO DARES WINS
Good one britexpat! LOL
peeing myself here. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
Its not easy. I used to have the same problem.
I went to the Psychiatrist and said - "I think I'm becoming a kleptomaniac."
The Psychiatrist said , "Here take these tablets and if you're no better in a week ..... Bring me a colour TV"
chinitasai08 I must admit I'm a KLEPTOMANIAC, just like what Miss Popcorngirl said, it is a disorder as in Obsessive Compulsive just like me. But mine is different, I take small foods whenever I see it in our room or in the kitchen where I have to eat them first before I'll say I took one. Your roommate is a thief not a Klepto.
In my entire life I never been to getting things valuable just small foods.
Don't usually take valuable stuff, they usually take useless objects such as paper clips etc. They don't use the stuff they take they hoard it. It is linked too OCD and other disorders. I think, sadly this girl is just a thief. I would not report her myself but I would for certainly let her know that you could phone the police.
I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
if and only TCOm... but for those who really thrift for their earnings... sometimes it's not reasonable due to rental rates... so far with God's eyes upon our room... neither any of us lost anything...
For this very reason I don't share my apartment worth the extra peace of mind

horrible...
.
how to deal with a clep? cut a finger, so everytime there is an itch, clep will be reminded by an incomplete set of fingers.
.
feed her later with an open bag, and we youve llost something, seal the bag with plpastic
and tell her:
are u going to deny this or ill bring your finger prints to the police(hi ron-ona;)
both of us (working not the "visit visa lady") lost valuables...
MyHotComments +
In this case, I don't think it's kleptomania, I think it's theft.
-------------------------------------
try the King Solomon's technique.... "
"to determine who's the one is the real mother...
wont certainly allow to put her child in peril..."
considering you are already a valuable/longtime boarder to your landlady/landlord... bring up your problem to your landlady/landlord.... just attempt to ask both of your roommate to pay for the items lost...
perhaps true colors will then popped up whose guilty...
if you wont get back your losses... at least you will be justified to learn from it...
is cleptomania a medically accepted disorder? like pedophilia and arsonist behaviors? or can it be treated like alcoholism?
just curious. thanks in advance!

chinitasai08...thats really a nightmare....Phew!!
i think i believed in that PA
" there is no contentment"...
MyHotComments +
or maybe chinitasai, clepto can be misconstrued to a thief. there is a difference in such as to urge and needs.
"Adda ti adal na, ngem awan ti sursuro na."
i do not think so vibo... as have been said cleptomania is a disorder..unless cured, the clepto can think, the more the better...
there is no contentment...
"Adda ti adal na, ngem awan ti sursuro na."
no matter how you lure the shark for another bait just for you to know whether it was that shark devoured your things... remember this, when the shark is full, certainly your bait wont be biten...
