DHS 6 Million given to SORCERES
ABU DHABI - A man lost Dh6 million after he gave it to two men he believed were ‘sorcerers’, expecting they would multiply it to Dh1 billion,
Abu Dhabi Police said that the two African men, posing as "sorcerers", had left the country with the Emirati’s money.
“The victim heard from his friend in a northern emirate that two African sorcerers were available in a café which they used as their base, and had supernatural powers to multiply money,”
The national sold his house for Dh6 million & contacted his friend asking to meet the sorcerers in Abu Dhabi.
The two sorcerers met the Emirati and took the money. He gave them Dh5 million to multiply it to Dh1 billion.
“The pair told him that the money would be multiplied through witchcraft and the ‘Jin’, provided he gave them Dh1 million to buy incense and other items needed to bring the ‘Jin’ in,”
The two alleged conmen said the ‘Jin’ would come to the house the same day to multiply the cash, and that the victim should stay the night in the garden of the house,
The ‘grateful’ man thanked them and gave them a lift to the Abu Dhabi bus station, where he paid them money and taxi fare to their residence in a northern emirate.
Returning home, the victim followed the instructions and stayed the night in the garden.
The following night he opened the door of the bedroom to find that the cash had disappeared.
Undeterred, he returned to the garden to stay for a second night in the belief that the ‘Jin’ would come.
While lying in the garden, a friend visited him and the Emirati recounted the story.
“His friend shouted at him and angrily told him that: “How come you believe in such superstitions, and that he was defrauded, and should report the matter to the Police,” Lt-Col. Al Hanaai recounted.
The victim refused to tell the police, and requested his friend not to do so.
“However, his friend reported the matter to the police,” Lt. Col. Al Hanaai said. Eventually after calling the ‘sorcerers’ and discovering their phone was switched off, the victim identified the men from the police photographs.
However, the men had already left for their home country in Africa with the Dh5 million.
Dh1 million was spent to buy expensive incense and other items needed to bring in the ‘Jin’.
“The Public prosecution is investigating the incident in preparation to try the pair in absentia, and once judgment is passed by the court, we will ask Interpol to help us arrest them,” Lt-Col. Al Hanaai said.

Discuss about ur faith & belief in GOD after reading above article
I think the question here really is, if you met a guy this stupid, would you rip him off? I'm not sure I wouldn't.

how... just HOW can a sane person fall into this trap ?
Is so absurd.
i have read this in papers in different countries. Is it possible that they hypnotise or something?
By the way, in one incident, i read that the 'sorcerer' actually was giving out double the money to his initial clients. When the amount wasn't so high i.e., for 1000 he gave 2000 and so on. With this he managed to lure a lot of customers and escaped with a lot of money. No hyponis in this one though :0

Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.
Guys, I'm a regular reader of KHALEEJ TIMES and trust me the above incident has happened many times for the last few months. You can search for such articles by the word "sorcerer" and u will get more than 3-5 stories occurred in 2009
.
That's why I took the initiative to raise this issue in Qatar fearing that GOD FORBID any of our brother/sister might get fooled by such criminals.
.
So by reading our comments, people will get alert.

My mistake atif ... it seems that people regularly turn up in Dubai doing this sort of thing: http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/03/12/01/104237.html
It is so stupid (as are its victims) that I didn't think anybody would try to pull it again.
This is an old scam. I'm sure I've heard about it happening somewhere else in the world. Sounds like people are still falling for it.
atif, I don't think this article will really provoke anyone to "Discuss about ur faith & belief in GOD after reading above article"
What did he think that they were Ali Baba... who turned out to be two of the forty theives..
May be 2 of the 10 that have been laid off in someonenews caption..lol

"Man in Emirates loses lots of money to swindlers."
This time its an Emirati losing it to a foreign national, rather than the other way around.
That story is at least five years old...
As for "belief in God" - the story demonstrates nothing in favour of or against such a belief.
ROFLMAO!!!!! Serves him right!
fubar .... Stupid people inherit money too!
What a Plonker ... a fool and his money are soon parted :o)
Hahahahahahaahhaha.
What an idiot.
How could someone that stupid have owned a house with Dh6 million???
Rotfling and some more loling! He deserved it, such a jackass! And this has nothing to do with your faith and belief in God. Your faith in God tells you to NOT be greedy, Your faith in God tells you to work hard for your daily bread. A person who has NO faith in God will resort to such stupidity and pay the price..end of discussion.
Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)

i don't think they should be arrested.
the law is there to protect the weak, not the stupid.
that's why you shouldn't believe in easy money.
