Do we learn by traveling
We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again—to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more. The beauty of this whole process was best described, perhaps, before people even took to frequent flying, by George Santayana in his lapidary essay, “The Philosophy of Travel.” We “need sometimes,” the Harvard philosopher wrote, “to escape into open solitudes, into aimlessness, into the moral holiday of running some pure hazard, in order to sharpen the edge of life, to taste hardship, and to be compelled to work desperately for a moment at no matter what.”
i luv travelling.... never mind if alone or not...
it just makes our mind refresh and somtimes forget wat v r.. just like to indulge into tht deep feeling of seeing new world...
give some time to this topic also
people stopped traveling or what ....?
talk about that do we got more energy by traveling for our work and study rather then to sit on one place
yes we do!
well as this world build for us and we need to find the best things in it similarly in us also
We come alone in this world and we go alone too. This all time is about exploring about our own abilities and strengths and weaknesses too..
thanks
we need to explore the world and ourselves also
you are right Every moment we step ahead it is a kind of
journey in itself.
Lawa ... you have posted a very very beautiful heart touching thread..It is so much to write about and so much to thik about...Every moment we step ahead it is a kind of journey in itself..
Sorry .. It means - relieving themselves of the stresses or enrgizing themselves.
recharge their batteries .......?
so that's why now a days i am feeling some lazy
Many do it just to recharge their batteries.. No philosophical reason..
On the other hand, Oryx has travelled extensively. So her reasons can be said to be more related to learning and broadening her outlook or giving ..
i do agree with you
Some, like most of us, just to get away and have a change of scenery
but did we got that change .....?
Different people travel for different needs.
Some, like most of us, just to get away and have a change of scenery.
Others, to broaden their horizons and learn. And some for adventure.
I think George Santayana's "lapidary essay" does not apply to most of us..
you are right some time I feel that my mind is working the speed of my car and use to think a lot
specially when you are not driving yourself. It gives us new views to look at if you are extrovert and it gives us to think in ourself if we are introvert. We keep thinking positivies negatives small things big things and a lot many points to think about.
Basically every journey even if it is for a small distance it gives a kind of exposure to us.
I agree with you.
it's also a sad true
we make it easier to transmit diseases with this frequent travel...
that's true
but i would like to listen from you any travel experience...?
I travel to be alone again..
People you know just don't know when to leave you alone..
do you agree with this Philosophy.....?
