Double Standards in Qatar

DOHA: A lower criminal court which sentenced a housewife to
face the firing squad for killing her maid walked away with a lighter sentence passed by the Court of Appeals, which ruled that the murder was not premeditated. (The Peninsula)

I wonder if the housewife would have been killed by the maid .... would they still say that the murder was not PREMEDITATED !!!! ????

A Murder is a murder .... the GODDAMN housewife stabbed the poor maid with a knife GOD knows how many times ..... and the maid bled to death .... and they say its not a murder ???? WTF !!!! Is this justice what Islam taught us ???? I don't think so !!!! Any Comments ?

The lady maybe was not qatari... but if it happened here it was under the local "laws".

God makes it rain on the just and unjust fella,

but mostly on the just!

Because the unjust has the just's umbrella!

Justice delayed is justice denied.

I'm not going to get into a big debate as to whether there is an afterlife or not and whether it is a place of torment for those who did whatever when they were alive.

All I'm going to say is that if we need to wait for the afterlife to find justice in this life, then THERE IS NO JUSTICE!

They have something here called blood money and it is up to the family to accept or refuse it. If the family accepts the blood money that means they prefer that to the sentence given to to culprit....

Apparently you have never seen people get very light sentences for temporary insanity, or better yet, get off scott free because they have a great lawyer.

Only a double standard in Qatar? How many years in prison do the average pedophile (first offence) get back home? None.... they get prohibation.

I think the main reason maid abuse doesn't happen in the UK is that hardly anyone has a maid. Certainly, I've never met anyone who employed a maid or nanny.

Dicrimination is there in every walk of LIFE; White vs non-white, Arabic speaking vs non Arabic spreaking. Degrees from UK/US vs non UK/US qualified....just count on...

Maid abuse happens all over the world, but it is less likely to happen in 'developed' countries because they have criminal justice systems in place to actually punish murderers.

The gulf countries don't value human life and don't consider stabbing a maid to death as a serious offence.

In western countries merely beating or starving the maid like this would have landed you the jail sentence. Here it is normal to think that you can do those things to your domestic staff without fear of prosecution.

Even in Singapore and USA..

However, I agree that it is much much more common in the Middle East.

it is very common here in the middle east..it says something about their kind of people...

i'm speaking in general here coz i also know some arabs / arab families here who are genuinely very nice and kind hearted people...

the bottom line is that most of these middle easterners are hyprocrites by hiding themselves behind the sanctity of their religion to cover up that they stink as humans...

It is incorrect to say that maid abuse / murder does not occur in other countries.

However, it is more common / prevelaint in the Middle East.

This is really unheard of in any other country....normal everyday housewives taking lives of their maids.....Its not like in the underworld or ganster or pimp or not even under the influence of alcohol or drugs....

...and I m not even saying the lady should be hanged or shot....but at least stop that family from hiring more maids!!!

that's the weirdest thing in this side of the world...

here in the middle east, you can hear people talk about their morality, their religion, etc...and we think that they are righteous, chaste and sanctified....

but they are the exact opposite!!!

In essense, insurers are losing money hand over fist because it is they (the insurers) who are left to pay the QR150,000 blood money every time some idiot kills someone on the roads in this country.

So basically you can murder someone with your car and you will lose your license for a few weeks, and the insurance company picks up the bill.

You can also stab your maid to death in cold blood, after first beating her and starving her, and you'll get a couple of years in jail. Meanwhile your husband, who knows full well what is going on, gets off scot free.

Is there any justince in this country for the helpless workers, or only for the lucky few?
