You should apply for the Saudi transit visa now, couse in few days it will be a blackout period till after Eid Al-Adha

Anyway, the trip will take almost 20 hours of non-stop driving, worth stopping over in Rafha or Hafer Al Batten, unless you are really fine with staying awake for 20 hours

Worth having a companion, lots of coffee and never look at the time

Well, you have to travel with a male relative (husband, father or brother). Depending on nationality a transit visa is pretty easy but takes a few weeks. Ladies have to cover in Saudi even in the car and women arent allowed to drive.

There isnt a lot on the drive there, and the hotels along the road are cheap and dirty. Borders take a good bit of time, our longest wait was at the Jordanian border.

Car insurance for the trip can be purchased at the border.
