Driving & Traffic In Qatar

I have been working in Qatar for last 3 years now. For last 12 months, there has been a noticeable change in the traffic and driving.

1) More and more vehicles are coming on the road. This is understandable as Qatar is growing with some pace.

2) 12 months back, i seldom heard some one buzzing on the road(pressing car's Horn). But now, it is like every single person is buzzing around.

3) Previously people use to stop at the main road joining points, but now people go on non-stop as if they just dont know what the priorities of the road are. Causing alot of accidents.

4) Roundabouts with signals are something where people need to be cautious in Qatar, but now drivers run through the red light as if it is a joke and again it becomes a huge reason for accidents.

The reason for this forum post is to create awareness among ourselves. At least we who care for others should follow the traffic rules and try to be on the safer side.

Please make others (your friends and family here in Qatar) realize what rash driving can do to them and others.

May Allah bless us all. Amen

The way most Qataris drive is proof that they attend donkey driving school.

I just took off from my office, inorder to go home and have lunch, guess what, i couldnt go out of my parking lot for a few minutes (I am not Exagrating guys). My house is 1 and a half KM from my office, which is about 3 to 4 minutes drive. WHICH TODAY BECAME 45 MINUTES DRIVE. AGAIN I AM NOT EXAGRATING.

I KNOW I CAN WALK FROM OFFICE TO HOME, it is just 12 to 15 minutes, but i cant stand the heat.

Again, i saw a few accidents. Probably because of the impatience and lack of knowledge that the people have.

DONT YOU GET IT? IF YOU ARE DRINKING GALLONS OF COFFEE AND YOU GET COLD, WHAT HAPPENS THEN? THATS WHY THEY WANT TO RUN OVER YOU, YOU SLOW MOVING WORM EXPAT!!

Khanan, with my one eye, I looked deep into her eyes (it was the only thing visible). She had pure 'batrul' eyes'.

I saw a Qatari lady today in a Porsche Cayenne driving with 100 km/h, and guess what? She was texting on her mobile. As long as this is considered normal, there will be no cure!
