Dubai court annuls marriage to 'bearded lady'
An Arab country's ambassador to Dubai has had his marriage contract annulled after discovering the bride was cross-eyed and had facial hair.
The woman had worn an Islamic veil, known as the niqab, on the few occasions the couple had met.
The envoy, who has not been identified, told a Sharia court her mother had tricked him by showing him pictures of the bride's sister, Gulf News reported.
He only discovered the deception when he lifted the woman's veil to kiss her.
The court had annulled the marriage contract but rejected a $130,000 (£83,000) compensation claim for gifts he had bought his intended, the report said.
That guy is an irresponsible creep........I hope the girl finds a better life somewhere.
Nic is right. Arranged marriages are for submissive people who believe in accepting destiny. Those who don't fit in this category should not ruin a woman's life by holding her hand in front of society and then humiliate her in public because he cannot take responsibility for his action........son of a bitch.
Well said drmana. It is just the perception of people now days. Almost every thing is curable appart from death nowadays

asif_khan, you once again have proved to us how immature you are when it comes to women.
I feel sorry for her, I hope this hasn't traumatised her too much :-(

Asif_khan, your comments are disgusting. Do you happen to realize that she is a human too and deserve respect from a fellow human.
What happened between her and her husband is sad but I do not believe that any lady would be bearded by choice. She must be having some hormonal imbalance which can definitely be cured.
Asif, there is nothing that this lady had done to have that.
I feel sorry for your comments

I agree with drmana, I feel sorry for the girl.

Nic..those are some valid points...:)
Now both can sue each other for psychological and emotional trauma. But jokes apart, did anyone consider getting the poor girl checked for any hormonal disorder? Poor girl....
Cannot decide who is the victim here.
Texas,
true, when one doesn't have the common sense ;)
Nic, sometimes talking common sense needs a lot of thought making :)
Geez, I feel more sorry for the guy.
Texas,
A lot of thought?! O_o
Isn't all that common sense?
It's pure discrimination for the reason he gave the courts.
But would I like to be in his shoes..hhmmmm No!

He just got what he deserves with the hypocrite rules they have. No mercy.
wow Nic! you are giving it a lot of thought.
Thats interesting and funny as well..
Why did people put her in such a situation? They guy should be mean to bring the matter public.
One can only be happily married without seeing, preferably knowing the other person, if:
1. By luck, it happened by the will of the the gods that both were compatible and even better, were just what the other one was looking for;
2. One or both are totally submissive and have no free will or desire to express there own needs and/or opinions;
3. One or both were educated to accept their fate as part of their destiny;
4. One or both don't value themselves as an individual and would put their parents' decision above all. He and/or she were educated to serve their purpose in life (produce grand children to continue the lineage) and neglect and even deny their existent as individuals.
5. (…)
Come on look isn't everything!!!!
My parents had an arranged marriage without even looking at each other. They were happily married for 31 years...

I have no idea. If he was willing to look at a picture, you'd think he'd be willing to look at her in person.

Olive,
Yeah, that's part of the problem.
Why on earth, would somebody marry a pile of black cloth, without at least verifying what's underneath?
All that seems so hopeless!
I am sure after reading this all men who got married recently would get home this afternoon and check their wives, loooooool.
What this illustrates is the stupidity of the veil Nic. I know many people in arranged marriages and most of them are happy as can be.

The article illustrates the stupidity and sadness behind arranged marriages - where the two candidates are considered unable to choose for themselves as if they were brainless.
Ignorance and retrograde mentalities feed this!
hahaha
wowo,this is amazing...
so they actually never met without the veil... didnt know it was thaaat serious...
*-*-*Life is too short to be taken seriously*-*-*
lol..but feel sorry for her and for him..

Haha...this is hilarious. I don't blame him. She could have gone for some laser treatment...lol.
You'd think she could have shaved for her wedding day :/
I heard about a guy who discovered his new (covered) wife wasn't, shall we say "well endowed" enough for his liking... so he divorced her.
Seems if you're going to marry a covered woman, you should agree to accept the package sight unseen

I know, I do feel sorry but it's pretty funny.

I shouldn't be laughing but I find this really funny...

Olive - LoL u gotta feel a bit sorry for her... imagine being told that! At least she got the gifts though.
Wouldn't her eyes still be visible? Surely he would've known she was cross eyed.
