E-Gate Entry/Exit

It seems that if one used the passport to exit via manned counter at DOH, one would have to enter using the passport to enter. I was stuck at the airport yesterday night at the E-Gate. But, the E-Gate lanes were never opened for the 5 trips in the last two weeks, though I was told that the gates were available to QR passengers. Does anyone know if I can use the gates at the QR terminal after checking-in at Terminal B?
