Ears and nose sliced off for leaving husband

Top press award for picture of disfigured Afghan woman
A shocking portrait of an Afghan woman whose ears and nose were sliced off by her husband as punishment for leaving him, taken by Jodi Bieber for Time magazine, won the top World Press Photo prize yesterday.
Bibi Aisha, aged 18 from Oruzgan province in Afghanistan, left her husband complaining of domestic violence.
A Taliban commander ordered that she face justice and her husband cut off her nose and ears. She now lives in the US where she had reconstructive surgery.

All you have to do is open your eyes and ears.... :o)
so pathetic one......but still dunt know she too will cut any part of him after surgery.......lol.
xxxpat...you took it out of my mouth :P
Poor girl.
thank god somebody is there to help.
Sadly, those kind of things happen much more than we hear...and only a few women receive help.
;)
I suppose you're right - The whole thing is going down the tubes anyway :O(
Brit we hire professional killers to take out women beaters??
Doesn't sound too good to me.. Better to just bomb the hell out of this planet.
There is a simpler way..
We hire Blackwater to quietly take out each person who commits these attrocities - no matter where..
EddyK then I am afraid we got to drop a nuclear bomb big enough to wipe out the entire world.
I am afraid one won't do it, maybe we need a couple.
Guess the US and other western nations and their allys have been right all along....
People who commit such kind of heinous crimes should be wiped from the face of the earth!
She's a beautiful young woman.
Unfortunately, she still has a long road ahead of her. She has received a prosthetic nose, but doctors feel she's not yet emotionally ready for surgery-
"So far doctors who have evaluated Bibi Aisha say that she is not yet emotionally ready for the endurance test of reconstructive surgery, as she continues to suffer from seizure-like incidents in which she recedes deep into herself, pulling at her hair and appearing to flash back to her past. In the past 3 1/2 months, she has been in and out of local hospitals and shuttled among host families, with staff and volunteers from the Grossman Burn Foundation, which sponsored her trip to the U.S., fighting to figure out the best way forward for the troubled young woman."

If there are a few, then it can't be ALL ;O(
Errrrr... not the title of the thread Tinks the litle graphic of a dancing Tinkerbell, is that not showing for you?
hey tinks...
she already has a temp nose. saw the news way back, she's very beautiful. it's amazing how strong her spirit is to rise from the tragedy.
Women get away with a lot too :O(
Though I don't agree with the title and the news story that went with it, the picture is very moving.
it's a sad cruel world..
Qhris you are just so evil
Hey Tinks... saw this and thought of you
Not all great though, I heard the surgery is so complex it'll cost her an arm and a leg
I think its back in the news because the photographer won a prize for the image.
i wonder how many men get castrated for rape. why then are we women the only ones subject to such crimes?
Terrible story, but quite old.
Thankfully, she has since been given reconstructive surgery in the USA and is on the mend ..
Taliban Commander or a Local Village Elder?
:o( no comment ..
but the good part , she s in USA now for surgery
