Earth Hour Doha

Just wondering if anyone knows if downtown Doha buildings participate in Earth Hour on 27th March by turning off or dimming their lights from 8.30 - 9.30 p.m? It would be nice to see lights all go off at once!

I Switched off the lights at home for 1 hr yest from 8.30 to 9.30...reminded me of Power cut back home.... Qatar should have done the same with prior notice...so the shops could have used generator for one hr..

Luvtodrive, this is one form of solidarity to show your support joining the fight against climate change, global warming. and its just not for an hour, but to do in many different ways everyday to save our planet.

i am glad i was part of todays earth hour and pledge to take every little possible steps in keeping this going.

little steps like

1. swith off your computer and torrents at night, plug it out of the socket. or atleast put it in sleep or suspend mode when not in use.

2. unplug the charger after charging your mobile full..

3. bring your own shopping bag, or reuse the earlier bag. and avoid it if possible.

4. tune your car for better milage.

5. set the aircondition to the actual temp you need, not too cood for you wear sweater. also put it in auto mode for power saving.

Goodnight. :-)

Well, I'm glad Qatar have made this kind of move but personally I think we must do it as personal commitment to ourselves that we need to save some energy which we dont really need, not just a single hour where all people will join and you will show everybody that you have been part of it! Salute to everyone who have been doing this as a practice long time back and not only now.

Hey yeah, you're right. We actually do turn off all our lights every day - for more than an hour. But the point being to make a united statement / commitment.

we do observe this one hour of LIGHTS OFF... national geography is also shutting down their program relay for an hour to support this cause (the timing is UAE timing i guess). so Qtel mozaic too need to support this event, being the local IPTV. so lets realize how would it be if we dont have electricity for an hour. for more info check

lets pledge to stop the climate change.

I'd be highly surprised if any lights get dimmed for this event, more likely for some idiot light a billboard advertising earth hour to attract paying customers to some scheme to make money.

Personally I'll be participating in my apartment.

As well I go out to the desert some weekend nights to see the stars and planets with my telescope.

Regards
