Easter celebration allowed in Islam
Part of Gulf times news today 9/4/09
" Hotels throughout Doha are preparing to celebrate Easter by offering a number of special packages and dining events for guests, most of which include entertainment and activities for children.
Al Sharq Village and Spa will be hosting a number of activities on Sunday, with an Easter-egg hunt, colouring competition, petting zoo, face painting and Easter Bunny all being laid on alongside the brunch at Al Liwan, ‘bunny tea’ at Al Jalsa and a three-course lunch at the Al Dana restaurant."
What is Easter Sunday and is this celebrated in Islamic country ?
I dont intent to offend anyone's religious denomination am just curious about it coz we are in an Islamic Country.
Christmas, Eids, Easter all the religious holidays make children happy, Scarlett it's a dream for every mother to see that, You said it we should celebrate everything and enjoye life together.
To be exposed to all the different cultures and religious holidays of the world. If everyone would just open up and accept people and things for what they are, and get over themselves, it would be such a nicer world.
If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

Scarlett we have another festival Baisakhi to mark the beginning of spring. So we are lucky we celebrate both Easter and other indigenous festivals and the best part is, we get holidays for all!
Has the foresight and grace to allow Christians celebrate our religious holidays, publically, in Doha!!
Even if you aren't Christian, Eastertime also marks the beginning of spring, altho here its quite a bit warmer....:)

Now keep these eggs warm and cozy, b'coz when they hatch there will be many happy and colorful little kids!
lol...there is supposed to be a comma there!
Color me with love though..
Happy Easter.

We also celebrate with fellow Christians. In Egypt, our Coptic friends and neighbors along with my family, we sit and color eggs, kids and adults.
This is very cheerful. Happy Easter
Salam
Easter is bigger than Christmas in the Christian religion. I have made a Muslim friend on QL and she is coming round to ours on Sunday to Sunday easter lunch.
I don't think most Muslims bother there asre over it.
You're kidding yourself.
according to my good friend Reem who is Muslim, they do not believe that Jesus was crucified but that an imposter died on the cross meant for Him. She says they believe that Jesus ascended into the Heavens, however. I have invited her and her family for dinner on Sunday and asked her would she be offended if I gave her children Easter baskets with toys and candy and she said not at all as the commercial celebration of the holiday is something she is used to seeing here in Doha. One of the best things I like about living in Qatar is that you can celebrate all that's dear and familiar to you, such as Christmas and Easter.
This is why I love LIBAN and lebaneese people, they celebrate everything Inchallah it will stay like this, a big family....one culture and differents religion, a big harmony... God bless you.
Who laid such colorful eggs. Must be a very jolly hen!
okmd, I know what you mea.
Edifis, take it as it is meant! Happy Eastern!
Diamond,Can or can't?
Just because Muslims don't celebrate Easter, I see no reason why others who want to can.
There are hundreds of thousands of Christians in Doha and several churches and fellowships where Easter will be celebrated.
Happy Easter to them is what I say.

Hmmm .... interesting question. I was told that according to Islamic scholars, anything that was not forbidden in the Qur'an was automatically permitted. Is there anything in the Qur'an saying that Christians are not allowed to celebrate Easter in a Muslim country? If not, I guess the Islamic ruling would be that Easter celebrations are allowed in Islam. You could check by posting your question to the scholars at Islamonline.
easter celebration are for christians particularly for catholics, but its celebration is also a business for all
Well, yes, SaRmir, the thousands of Christians in Doha will celebrate Easter in the churches that His Highness graciously donated the land for and private hotels will offer special activities on this day just as will countless Ramada, and Sheraton and Ritz hotels all over the world.
