Eastwood - We should laugh at racist jokes..

britexpat
By britexpat

must say that i agree with him.. There is too much PC in this world, especially from those Poutin eating Canadians..

Clint Eastwood, who is promoting his new film Gran Torino, says political correctness has gone too far
Clint Eastwood believes the rise of political correctness is no laughing matter.

He says the world would be a better place if we could still laugh at inoffensive jokes about different races.

The Hollywood actor and director, 78, said we live in constant fear of being labelled racist for simply laughing about national stereotypes.

'People have lost their sense of humour,' he told Germany's Der Spiegel magazine.

'In former times we constantly made jokes about different races.

'You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth otherwise you will be insulted as a racist.

'I find that ridiculous. In those earlier days every friendly clique had a "Sam the Jew" or "Jose the Mexican" - but we didn't think anything of it or have a racist
thought.

'It was normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem.

''I don't want to be politically correct. We're all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything.'

His comments come in a week in which BT suspended 30 call centre staff after they had circulated an Irish joke by email.

BT, however, insists other serious matters were involved and that a joke was not the sole reason for the suspensions.

Walt Kowalski is Clint Eastwood.

Walt opens the door.

Standing on his front step is Father Janovich.

FATHER JANOVICH

Hi there, Walt.

WALT

Listen, son, you’re not my barber, you’re not a friend, so why in the hell do you think you can call me Walt?

FATHER JANOVICH

Sorry... Mr. Kowalski.

WALT

So, what are you peddling now?

FATHER JANOVICH

Oh, nothing. Thought I’d drop by and see how you were doing. Haven’t seen you in church in awhile.

WALT

Okay. You’ve done your good deed, now why don’t you run along.

FATHER JANOVICH

I’d really like to talk, Mr. Kowalski.

WALT

I don’t think so, kid. Sorry.

FATHER JANOVICH

Why? Do you have a problem with me, Mr. Kowalski?

WALT

You don’t want to know.

FATHER JANOVICH

No, I do.

WALT

The problem is I think you’re an overeducated, 27-year-old virgin who holds the hands of superstitious old women and promises them eternity.

Walt shuts the front door in Father Janovich’s face.

The problem is I think you’re an overeducated, 27-year-old virgin who holds the hands of superstitious old women and promises them eternity.

You have missed the point love. Oh by the way, not all Irish, Jews, Arabs et all are terroists. Most are decent people who get on with their lives.

By the way apart from the racist element of you thread, you made no sense at all.

By corcaoich• 28 Feb 2009 00:35

this is defined as judgement before knowing the facts. Jews, Arabs, Pakistanis, Chechens, Irish etc. must be guilty because we all know how Jews and Arabs etc. are terrorists etc. Get a Life! Stop this poisonous thought circle spreading further! Take everybody as he presents himself , maybe good or bad, don't condemn someone or elevate him from some vague idea about origin until you know whether he is good at heart or not. You will be wrong invariably if you dont!

is humour and if we recognise it is meant in the best intentions, i.e. a joke; then no offence should be taken. It is ONE persons idea of something.

I am fairly confident in all aspects of my life but I can still enjoy people poking fun at me.

I can then do it to them. I am also big enough to apologise if I am wrong.

Sometimes i and my friends are together and the white ones start saying (just 4 fun) that they are black and that the whitty guys must leave, refering to the truelly black/brown folks :)

For me though it has to be sausage, chips, beans and egg. With bread and butter and a builders cup of tea. That is the best.

Talking of racism anybody else got the e-mail about the guy who played Kramer in Seinfeld?

He is in court for alleged racist remarks. His defence speech was fantastic and very thought provoking.

That's actually true: her step dad was native, she grew up on a reserve near where I used to live. I've heard the stories about her taking mustard sandwiches to school because there was nothing else in the house a bunch of times.

Shania is gorgeous although a bit if a twit. Anyone read the interview where she said she stays slim by not eating because she grew up without a lot of food in the house.

Ok Shania: yes. Avril: big bag of NO. I know a bunch of people who went to high school with her- big trampy snot basically, who was on the fast track to failing out.

plus she started as a christian country singer- and somehow migrated to this quasi punk that would make the ramones cry: and those where guys who shoved safety pins through their eyebrows for kicks.

Yes yes Gypsy, we all know Ellen Page: as soon as she got famous EVERY canadian had clearly had personal interaction with her.

and don't get me started on that bitch Avril: unfortunatly, she's from one of MY haunts.

I do agree however, that PC has ruined a good sarcasm-gasm. We're all expected to ignore differences in race, culture, background etc in the interest of not offending anyone- but by doing so, we're ignoring differences that should be celebrated, and yes, mocked for the amusement of the muppets in the gallery.

Personally, i find a good way around it is to just restrict my 'racist' comments to countries that don't get it enough. Like the Danish. Pastry eating peninsula monkies.

I refuse to disclose my other million jokes about the local races, decry comedy central for influencing me.

Unfortunately, many people had complained about me in Qatar Living for stereotyping ardent sects, pro-Israeli and anti-Arab jokes and supposedly negative comments.

I got two warnings already from the owner of the site, and I'm browsing in this majestic web site in a tight-rope from this point on. Even do, I ask for elucidation none were confirmed.
