Eid is boring in Qatar

Why is Eid so boring in Qatar? Why are the Qataris such party poopers? They don't even decorate the streets as they do in other Muslim countries. You would at least expect some decorative lighting along the Corniche. There is no celebratory atmosphere here. Are they saving money or are they just party poopers?

meaningful, nobody need to invite SG. here on ql there are lot of group people can join and meet new friends.

no body will come knocking on your door and ask you out, its the person himself who needs to get active.

i can tell example of myself. when i came here, i use to feel very lonely. no friends and so on. thank god i had my hubi and my lil boy. at least,i was busy taking care of him. with the time, its still gets very boring from staying home every day. i didt have my own car at the time. do you know what i use to say to myself? i use to say, there are so many things to do here but i need to get active.

after, discovering ql website,i joined the mums group, went out 1x with some of the mums from ql for coffee meeting. from there on, started to meet lovely people.

now, my agenda is fully booked!!! every day something new to do , every day meet out with friends ..... and so on! THANKs TO QL!!!!!!!

SG. maybe you need to tell us what kind of activity you are looking for? is there any thing specific you like to do, but cant dont know where or...?

let us know. iam very sure there are lot of qler out here who will be willing to help out.

hmm.. hope i didt expalin too much....

cheers

Why dont you guys invite SG to any of ur functions/party? you just advise him to go out! go out alone and walk in souq or corniche? you guys should atleast wellcome him, remember when you came to Doha u were the same but u got invited and know people, try to help this guy. unfortunately Im not a man to invite him , im single but not available lol...bad luck for him hehe

I dont live with example..Rather I prefer to be an example!

well i agree with SG. I mean in the west when its christmas its fabulous, the decorations, the atmosphere, parties etc, you really feel the occasion. For an islamic country it would be nice to mark the occasion with decorations etc, it pretty bland here. However as most said, fesitve seasons are about spending time with family and friends and marking the occasion. I guess with expat muslims being far away from family and friends makes it a bit difficult to feel eid.

its true, all depends upon yourself... you need to change the style of living and looking toward Qatar...instead of complaining, try to adjust with it... your life will be easy...

Putting aside personal attacks and views of whether one should be here or not the question was about why there is no Eid atmosphere here. There is hardly anything that gives you the feel of Eid - no decorations, no public festivities, it just seems like any other day.

I enjoy going to the huge majlis, sitting with family, going to some nice semi-parties, then going out with friends, enjoying the night time.

You're only bored if you don't get up and do something.

Although last eid there were no decorations compared to the one before it.
