Eid Celebrations including ........... Dwarf Wrestling
Well,
we all know that Qatar can have some stange statements but this leaflet on my windscreen was quite original.
Aladdins are having different shows including.
Dwarf Wrestling
The Giant vs the Dwarfs
Dog shows etc.
It has a number of pics inclduing a number of Qatari's ..well looking Qatari with swords and stuff, a couple of dwards fighting in spandex clothing, a dog that is in what llooks like a trolley, another one going through a circle of fire (n.b. these dogs look like poodles)and a woman parading a boa constrictor.
I mean wtf????
I will scan it later on for all to see.

i can still not figure out how to do it, pls explain in more detail if needed in the future. thx
seems to be extremely irregular in the midst of these there is singing and poetic debates etc
I remember reading about it. Some dwarfs (dwarves?) were grieved when it was banned cos they'd briefly enjoyed being a centre of attention. The pleasanter, and more private, role of chuck-about is reserved for females, I believe.
I think some would argue that banning such spectacles is more a matter of (Western) sentimentality than any coherent attempt to enhance and equalise human dignity.
Tricky one.
Was around in the pub scene in the 80's and was soon banned. Rightly so.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm I'm an Aussie living in Aus and to be honest I've never ever seen dwarf hurling advertised although perhaps its the kinda "sport" that doesnt get advertised (perhaps a little "underground" if you know what I mean!!) But I can definately say its not a common activity at all!! I've even spent some years in Northern Australia (very outback/country)and never even saw it up there.
Gefs : You should now see a toolbar when you edit your forum topic - one of the icons is a little camera. click it and you'll be able to add the picture!
want to add the pic of eid but how can i do so???
If there are any Ozzy folk out there perhaps you could clarify but I understand that the Hurler stands in a hammer/shot-put circle, spins around to gain momentum, while gripping the Dwarf by one or more favoured limb. Once the Hurler gets to the appropriate speed they let go and lob the Dwarf as far as they can into a bed of sand (to soften the landing) which stretches away from the hammer circle.
you've got to be kidding...this is definately one of those won't believe until I see instances.
Any mention of Dwarf Hurling in the flyer? It's quite a popular sport in Australia I understand.
Please scan it!!!!! We're waiting :)
