The Ox was not even playing for his club 12 months ago so no way you could pick him.
Only way is to do a Greece and that looks like the way England are going to play. Maybe not be pretty but it's effective and what other options does Hodgson have?
Brit I'm not a fan of Hodgson either, I'm a Liverpool man so no more words needed. But at the moment Eng don't have the players to be an exciting team, you are avg at best (say no more of WC2010) but once all players are fit you have a good team at next WC. You need to do what Germany did, blood your young exciting players, get them some decent game time and then reap the rewards. Eng look like Dads Army and hence they are all breaking down with injury. The OX should have been blooded 12 mths ago yet he only started for the first time yesterday. Lampard is a blessing in disguise, Gerrard is on his last legs, say no more. I'll be barracking for Eng but hoping they use it as a learning exercise and build for Brazil 2014.
Jim Mc - was at the Ricoh this year, easy win to the sky blues but you did nay build on a good result. Shame a proper football team are Cov. In terms of wee G the less said the better.
Everyone - I will be new in Qatar on the 12th, but have spent 6 one week stints in Doha over the past year or so. Where is the best bet for footie watching?
I don't like Hodgson.. I don't agree with his 4-4-2, which is old hat and cumbersome. We have a great keeper, but Terry is ponderous. I just hope the midfield can hold it together, especially now that Lampard is gone..
Britexpat, after the last 2 performances, that style of football is the only hope you guys have of making it out of the group stage. Face it Eng don't have the players to play an expansive open style. You need to be solid on def then when the opportunity arises break from open play, you play this style and stick to a game plan then you have a chance of the semis. Look how Chelsea got to the CL Final then won it, they were solid at the back then took their chances when presented, unlike Bayen, Barca and Real, so many opportunities and wasted.
As an ex sky blues supporter you will understand why the short rude word ginger haired wee man isn't on my chrissy present list! Am I unique - ccfc and Scotland supporter in one!
jim C - brilliant - made my laugh out loud. Having had Mr Srachen at our club for 12 months I feel like an honoury scot ! You can always support n e one but england
