Up until May, I worked for a company that had the same outlook - no exit permit unless you are going on annual leave...

Now, in my new employment, I am incharge of making sure exit permits are issued to staff, whenever they need them

ur right guys! i never thought i will fall on this scenario. before i don't mind exit permit as its only for formalities here in Qatar like for us filipinos we have so called OEC before leaving the philippines where you can get anytime without hassle. now i understand why expat wanted to abandon this exit permit, now i am one of those :)

most of companies here are doing that also to their employees... so your not alone....

you will never get any exit permit without the approval of sponsor so in your case your gen manager is not going to approve as you said so you shuld just better forget your trip ............ next time let your manager sign your leave first before you apply for any visa or any trips so you will not end up in such chaos

the manager is not approving even a SINGLE exit permit, and you suggest him to get a MULTIPLE one..  he will never get it..this is ridiculous not to be able to travel whenever you want it! Once when I just joined my first company, I was going to travel to Dubai, but the Signatory who supposed to sign my exit permit was out of Qatar. I had to CANCEL MY TRIP! After that I insisted on the multiple exit permit.. we are not the mouses in cage here.. WTH! I am a free person from the free country. They can not limit my movements unless i've commited a crime!   

You will get it from your - You guessed it - SPONSOR. Ha, ha, ha.

the problem is we don't have access with our sponsor, and before we can get the exit permit our gen mngr should sign first the letter that will prepare by our PRO. its so ridiculous and i have believe its only our gen mngr that don't want to give exit permit. qatarologist where i can get the exit permit for 500? 

talk to your sponsor directly if you can ...sometime managers just create problems cz of their personal grudges...

They are generally worried about people 'doing a runner'. Tell him he can keep your ESB if you don't come back as a guarantee.

ppl just enjoing to course problems for others. i dont see any other reason. in my company whenever i will ask ExPt i will get it.

bd money isn't an issue with my boss it just happened he don't have concern with his staff or let us say no common sense. i already informed him i paid 15o usd for dxb visa and the reason we will travel is to visit our relatives.

sanity i do feel the same...

200 if memory serves right. 500 for a multi, but I doubt your boss would go for that!
