Exit permits for husband being sponsored by wife?

We have the unusual situation that I work in Qatar and I am sponsored by my employer, but I sponsor my husband.

This has caused us a few problems (and raised eyebrows) at Immigration etc, when I applied for my husbands residence permit.

What do I do about an exit visa for him, when he needs to leave Qatar for a holiday?

Shazbat,

Fill only whatever is applicable. No need to fill company information.

...but please don't tell my wife. We use HSBC and they don't rat on me. Thank God!! :)

I have managed to get the MOI form translated, so I can understand what it says. What confuses me though, is that the 3rd block on the page, asks for company information. Do you normally fill this in?

I sponsor my husband, and yes, I get text messages when he spends any money from our bank account. Lol! But we were advised to get him an exit permit when we leave because although it's true spouses aren't supposed to need them, officials are a bit confused about men sponsored by their wives as it doesn't happen often. So save yourself hassle, get an arabic speaking friend to fill in the online form at http://www.moi.gov.qa/english/index.html, print off the permit and take it to the immigration desk at the airport a couple of days beforehand with copies of both your ID cards and passports, plus the originals. A single exit permit is free, an unlimited one for a year is 500 QR. But in all other respects, we've never had a problem with my husband being the sponsored one!

The process so far has been quite frustrating but it has had it's humourous moments.

The initial 3 month visa ended up saying that I was sponsoring myself! Then the final RP was correct, but the visa in his passport was for someone else completely :)

I got a text message from immigration when he comlpleted his fingerprints, and again when they gave him his permit.

Im also told I will get text messages when he uses his credit card! What a strange system.

...will all be in your name with him as the cosigner. He better be nice to you cuz you are going to be the one to have the final say. :P

It's not that bad really...we don't find it to be a problem.

Shazbat, things change. Check ahead, preferably with your company's representatives who handle residence permits, etc. I'd hate for your husband to go to the airport and get turned back because of my pronouncement.

I hope e46m3 is right as there is enough red tape in Qatar already! It's nice to know you recognise the user name of shazbat :)

Thanks KellysHeroes and Stash, where can I download the form?

Stash, is there any other advice you can give me with regards to sponosoring my husband (bank accounts and other official stuff)?

...and she needs to get me an exit permit. It is now done via downloading an online form (in Arabic so you will need help filling it out) You then take that to the immigration office near the airport to have it stamped. Make sure you bring both your passports when you go for the stamp.

Males sponsored by relatives (famiy visa) need exit permit.

You can check at the immigration office for issuing exit permits near airport parking.

Nothing. Family members sponsored by the spouse/custodian don't need an exit permit. But make sure he gets to the airport well ahead of time so he can chat with the immigration boys about his almost unique position! Nanu nanu!
