"Families only" AGAIN???
I just read that the Pakistani Bazaar to help the flood victims is for Families Only.
So if a Pakistani bachelor wants to go to be surrounded by his people, buy his native food and give a little for the Flood Victims in his country, he won't be allowed to do so.
What surprises me even more is, that people I recall posting on the thread about Family Days in Qatari Malls, calling it in some cases "Inhuman" will be attending said Bazaar.
Now, I am confused...is there actually a difference between the two?
Please do enlighten me.
really disappointed, when the organizers stopped me on gate, my spouse was not feeling well, so i walked alone, to have little donation for flood victims. :(
Da, tell me, what is your opinion on those crying "inhuman" about Family Day in malls and happily attend this event?
i hope the funeral of head organizer of this event should be a family day only too then just calling for fun on the name of flood cause is bullshit if they were that sincere and humble they would have done it an open event for every one. THE NUMBER OF PAKISTANI BACHELORS IS MORE THAN PAKISTANI FAMILIES HERE.
Lol Da...come on, tell us how you REALLY feel....lol!
Lol!
for a CAUSE then every one should be allowed there not just families.
the organizers may go to banana island and suck all they want there.
Giving excuse that space isnot enough is just bullshit. no one will come there and stay from start to the end of the day.
Thats really not being wise enough the head organizer may go and get under a train and die or come to me i will tell him how you need to die.
my apologies BritExpat, but i should've specified, except Saudi!...that of course goes without saying...there are minimum security prisons around the world that a lot of people(including yours truly!)would rather live in then that stuck in the stone ages country...
Saudi has family days, but ALL batchelors are banned. Including locals./
Islam says: Choose for your wives, what you choose for yourself, and here i ll rather agree with nomerci....i was quite disappointed with the family only anoucement..
come on guys... this doesnt even happen in Pakistan anymore
Shame!
100% yes - married men seem no less inclined to have 'bad intentions'!
I've asked this question before & i do know the answer but a penny for your thoughts people...how come the rest of the GCC countries don't have this problem?...there are plenty of bachelors in Dubai too...how come they don't have to implement "family days"?...
ok Adey , expect a pm soon! But it will be encrypted.....
I swear!
adey, the next one coming up ,you're in, I promise! But you can't tell ANYBODY...otherwise we would have to take measures rather uncomfortable for you......
And I find what you say about bachelors to be insulting. Bachelors are no more inclined to have "bad intentions" than married men. As for the size of the place, this can be managed by only allowing admittance and selling tickets in numbers you can manage.
Bottom line: these Pakistani women (and you) are discriminating and you would be the first to cry foul if you were discriminated against.
Well maybe not so I will have to make other plans!
"parties and beach gatherings with uncovered girls/women around..."
I want times, locations and secret passwords NOW!!
:P
Oryx, see, as I said before, this is not really what my thread is about.
It is about what you said before,,,people crying racism / inhuman when it suits them....and doing exactly what they cried about to their own people, even!
See, I really do not care what they do here in Malls or at this Pakistani event.....but I would really like to hear from those who called Qatars rules inhuman etc... w.but , I suppose those are the same people who leave their wives at home and go to parties and beach gatherings with uncovered girls/women around...ah well, each to their own!
No way. They only stare at you!
Will single girls be allowed?
well in case anyone isn't sure this is the cambridge definition of the term:
discrimination noun ( DIFFERENT TREATMENT ) /dɪˌskrɪm.ɪˈneɪ.ʃən/ [U]
treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially in a worse way from the way in which you treat other people, because of their skin colour, religion, sex, etc.
only the organizers are responsible in this case. no one else to be blamed.
also I would like to highlight one more thing here, there were some past incidents also which might be the reason that they are bound to do so.
Oryx, I think they cant justify their actions :-)
Well Oryx...read the thread...( they don't...they make lame excuses instead....;) )
Well it seems strange that Pakistanis will be stopping Pakistanis going in and that some of the same people scream racism about the malls doing it. I wonder how they justify their actions?
lets go to the place with banners in our hands saying "Let the bachelors IN - you #$%, $%^, $%^& etc etc"
(Mods no need to censor, i did it myself)
So lets see who puts their money where their mouth is!
If you are against the Mall's 'family days' - you should be against any place that institute 'family only policy'
So why get angry with the MALLS only......????
A charity event esp should not discriminate but let people in on first come first served basis as QChris said.
It seems strange that I have more right to go to a function in aid of Pakistanis than a Pakistani.....
lol....of course you don't. Let's see what you and the others have to say once a thread about Family day in Qatar comes up...again. ;)
don't care what others says :-)
Speed, isn't saying that "poor labourers may have bad intentions" a discrimination in itself?
Anyone can have bad intention, why only bachelors??
You have to look this from Organizer point of view:
1) This is not a huge shopping mall or a open space where they can accomodate 10,000 plus general public.
2) This Event is happening in a School with a limited space
3) Keeping the facts in mind that this is an open Event for all the Nationalities not restricted to Pakistanis only. We all know that most of the bachelors are from Asian Countries and majority of them are working as labourers.
With all due respect, It is also a known factor that majority of these labourers are living here in a poor conditions away from there families. I don't say all labourers but there are many such people who take benifits of such Events just to enter with the bad intentions towards women and childern and many other reasons such as stealing, fighthing etc...
Please do not take my statement in general. I am pointing to those only who are corrupted.
Keeping these factors in mind and to make the Event successful, peaceful and healthy. They have taken this decision.
I had raised this issue with them and these were the justification they gave to me. They said they wish to do the Event for general public in future once they have bigger space and better security.
In short I wanted to tell you here that this Event was not created based on discrimination but to avoid any mishap which can lead to cancelation of the Event by the Govt. Authorities.
Speed, I really could not care less...as I said in NUMEROUS posts before.
All I am saying is that those crying FOUL when it comes to Family Day in Qatar Malls are now happily attending this Family Only event.
For some this might be perfectly reasonable...but the rest does not quite get it...me included.
Okay
hms, if you read my previous posts, you will see that your question is entirely besides the point.
UK, sorry, no go.
hms, no, I will not attend this event. I had thought about attending it, as some of my friends are selling their wares there, but I decided not to.
nomerci can you be my partner so I can attend this event as my spouse will not go anywhere near it..:)
are u attending the event ??
UK, of course they are not coming forward...I fully expected that.
I'm just waiting for another"Family Day in Qatar is racist " thread....I assure you, THEN they will only be too forthcoming...as they have been in the past. ;)
Nomerci I see who your targets are. But I am afraid they are not coming forward to respond to this policy.
As they feel that it quite appropriate to impose this policy on an event like this?
So the only logical answer so far has been presented by Khanan which I am not sure has convinced everyone?
Everyone wishes for that Lincoln Bro!
Hard to control. Some married men will pretend being bachelors, ataulah.
Well ! i m organizing an event bazaar in Doha. Only Bachelors are allowed no Families. Those who wanna join most welcome. Entry Tickets are Qr. 5, Families are welcome to jus buy the tickets but "No Entry" !!! All the collected amount will be divided into two half we will use and half will be send to Pakistan Flood Victims...
UK....for god's sake man, did you read my comments??
I shall repeat yet AGAIN....what the organizers do is of absolutely NO interest to me...it is about THOSE who are AGAINST family day in Qatar 's malls, and now they are happily attending this Family only event....ya?
Ignore the event and spend your money on alcohol.
(the father of the well-known medical oath). For example, being called a "hypocrite" is far worse ;)
The main organiser seems to the PWA Pakistan Women Association I believe. So technically it should be a women only event with exception of children below say 12 also been allowed in.
Why families exculisve event been organised by a Women organisation is still a baffle.
Where as the cause for this event is mainly commercial with stall holders paying significant fees to hire stalls and selling their products and merchandises with a token of QR5 going towards the flood victims.
I believe it is a Culture associated to Muslims? that we westerner's will never understand as can never undersatnd the gender segregation, be it a mall or a place or worship like a mosques.
Khanan argument is so far the most logical but there is an underlying issue that no one wants to address as they will be branded as Hippocrates.
Most likely because they are a "beloved" qler ;P
Funny thing, some of those calling Family Day in malls "inhuman" etc...are now explaining away this little faux pas....ah well! lol
Truthfully, I did not expect any different....but it was fun watching it. lol
Welcome to Qatar, the land were double standard and hypocrisy are a way of life.
If it is due to capacity....why not just have a 'first come, first served' basis?
This means a family turning up 'late' will be allowed in, but a bachelor arriving early will not? Er....seriously?
Have they heard of 'queues'?
You know, those things where you wait in line for your turn, for things like buying tickets or gaining entry?
Plus, aren't there more people in a family than a bachelor, so if it is a capacity issue....
think women ask to be raped. How about leaving the stone age and joining the 21st century, mate?
LATER ON QL WILL BE FOR FAMILY ONLY! LOLLLLLL :)
You can control the numbers by controlling the tickets sold and the number of people allowed in.
My wife is not such a ninny that she can't handle herself if someone stares at her. I've never heard of anyone dying from being stared at.
WK, when "THEY" will reply? :-)
its already lunch break and still no JDAM fired by "THEM"... :P
ridiculous notion to turn away anyone for a charity event.
nomerci, let's just wait for their replies then...:))
Lol reZyz...that's not the case with every women...
I am, in NO WAY, questioning/crtiticizing the organizers of the Pakistani Bazaar. It is their business what they do or not do. I am, as you can see in many previous posts on threads about Family Day in Qatar, NOT questioning or criticizing Family Day in Qatar's Malls. Not at all.
I am asking those who WERE criticizing Qatar's Family Day how THEY can happily attend this Pakistani ONLY FAMILY bazaar.
Thanks for the update. Hope the event is a success.
Excellent, thats the answer all are here wanted, great work,
Bazar/Event organized it was open to ALL. Approx 15,000 to 17,000 people attended including bachelors, married, divorced, young and old.
The event was suppose to meant on small scale but the response from the people and sponsors was overwhelming.
The only reason is space avalibilty. The whole event was organized in 3 weeks with the venue being too small to accomodate such a huge number of visitors.
there is no discrimintaion/racist motive behind putting the "Families Only" tag to the event.
i blame females too, they are equally held responsible for any mishapz... their styles, make-ups & costumes attracts the stranger to stare towards them!!
The demand for having "family oriented"events is initiated by the community , Whether it was a mall or a any other social activity
Organizers have nothing but to comply.
In another note, Aqua park Qatar management is facing a huge criticism from locals all over the local media Demanding all family days & strict dress code for swim wear!!!as much as this annoys me, I do understand where all this coming from.
yeah..u r right mr.Qhris..i meant uncomfortable..by staring anyone to his wife ,sis etc...
lol...so a singles/ bachelors money is OK ...but his presence is not.
Agree with nomerci..
Seems rather strange.
Perhaps the organisers should enlighten us as to their reasoning.
Is it a guideline from the authorities or a rule made up by the PWA.
is better than......!
Ask organiser please and not to QLers :)
I agree with Rizk and WK....Navraatri still to come for match-making process.
Safety for family? When has anyone been attacked, molested, raped, mugged, held at gunpoint or terrorised in a mall?
There are security everywhere anyway, and Qatar is one of the safest countries in the world.
So....'safety' means 'people staring at his wife'?
roseflower who said those who are allowed inside aren't against family days?
Dig up all the old threads against family days and some of the most vocal opponents are married guys who have their wives here. I go to malls all the time on Fridays with someone and I am dead against it as well.
rizks is right..i m with him..
mostly bachlor himself is against family day in mall or in any event..not family man..every one who go out with his family, want safety for his family..and avoid to go any place where they feel uncomfortable..so dont expect any comment from family man against family day.
happy, indeed the thread is about charity not flooding in water....lol
If a bachelors really wants to help and give something in the charity for the flood victims he can directly purchase all the entry books and donate tat amount to charity...right ? If his intentions are Clean...?
Rizks...I thought the thread is about the charity for flood victims of Pakistan and the way bachelors have been kept away from the place of collection of funds for it not about the way bachelors/ singles are looked at in Malls in Doha... which IMO is just for reference. Are we on the same page now.
is it Hajaam ? :)
yap, naada also could be helpfull to hang myself from drowning... ;)
So, anybody who is going to the Bazaar and has been posting against Family Day in the malls want to say something? ;)
I guess not....lol
You know, there is actually a very fitting word for those people....it starts with H.
rezy wat if no Cowz around ? wat will u pull ?
ur chaddi ka naada ? ROFL
drowning in the floods, i would prefer to hold the cow's tail... so it can pull me out... ;b
by the way, we are talkin here about a Family day in Malls not someone drowning in any lake or SEA....lol
Happygoluck in the Malls, families are drowining or wat the bachelors are coming for help ? :)
Family only charity event?? That totally doesn't make sense....
that is my question, then why only bachelors are to be blamed,
may be we should have an escort service in qatar.....
as i mentioned not ALL bachelors do tat, i agree even Married mens do stare, but who will suspect or question them ? :)
Rizks...if a women is drowning in the floods, would she hold the extended helping hand of a man or she will ask for his family first to be around.
not a single bachelor will go there then.. ;b
do all think that bachelors are so bad, and i have observed married men with their wives around will stare at other females more than bachelors, how anybody can justify that.
If its for the cause, then they hav entry ticket counters outside, go and purchase the tickets as much as u like thinking like u have given ur amount for a Cause ? :(
Sah ?
its has been observed in the eid festivels as well, bachelors are more in #s & authority just look for to earn from them...!
are women really that insensitive that they would rather not be stared at, and give LESS money to charity?
Rather than put up with a mild, inoffensive obstacle to give money to people dying?
People need to sort their priorities out.
all should be allowed, afterall all are helping for some cause.
Rizks, maybe so. I am not judging the organizers doing it this way. What I am asking is : How can people be against a family day in the Malls, but happily attend said Bazaar?
As like you said in your post, the reasons for it are actually the same.
11 min. is too short for someone responsible, as we know of a few of them, to come online to put forth their comments... I am hopeful that someone from them would come and respond.
The thinking would be the same, if single guys come then the women will get uncomfortable with their stares and all. It is for a good cause and everyone SHOULD be allowed.
As this event is a help to the Pakistan victims, but some bachelors attend the event with some other reasons in their mind...like mouth watching and line maring to galz.
They wont see if the lady is married or unmarried. They just stare at them....tatz the bitter and TRUE reason why bachelors are not allowed in some places....
Well, I was actually hoping to hear from those people who will be attending...as they MUST have a valid explanation for this....non?
That REALLY sucks!!!!
I won't attend since I found out that no bachelors are allowed! Racists with double standards! Doing this to their own people, shame on them!! EVERYBODY should be allowed as it is to help Pakistan!
people will only complain when it excludes them from what they want to do; like enter the mall.
When the rule 'protects' them, no-one will speak out.
Seems the Pakistani flood victims are in the luxurious position of being able to choose whose money they receive....
yes whyte, but how can those who were so upset about Family Days in Malls happily attend this Bazaar?
This I don't get.
Even in malls, it's Asians discriminating against Asians, same here so not surprised.
