Firefox and Thunderbird
By lima foxtrot •
I have just started using Firefox as my browser & Thunderbird as my email client. What I want to know is, can I delete my Internet Explorer or should I keep it on my laptop just in case Firefox goes down?
Thank you

I took your test with IE, FF and Opera.
And Opera got the best result!
I keep all 3 of them on my PC's anyway.
Hi,
Congratulations on trying Firefox. I am no Microsoft basher but IE simply is not the best standards-compliant browser around. Don't get me started on the security vulnerabilities.
Try this test:
A group called Web Standards maintain a web-page to test the standards compliance of browsers. You can reach the link at:
http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html
There are two links. The link on the left is the actual test. The browser is supposed to display a face on clicking it. The link on the right shows how the page should appear.
Some pages in general appear better on IE because of sloppy programmers. They don't develop the site to be standards-compliant.
Enjoy.
PS. You cannot uninstall IE - it will need unusual tech skills or software and may break Windows. Just delete the desktop icon and continue using FF. Some sites (like CBQ) will require IE.

Install IE Tab add on of FF & you will be able to browse all the sites !
to QT, other people posted. Thanks for your comments Qatman & AbuAmerican. I will be keeping IE.

Yes, i've noticed some webistes look different but i kinda like using FF now. Well that is until I get bored, then I might try something else.
Thanks again for your help.

Don't delete IE, It is integrated within windows & may affect other window components.
I'd keep it just in case. its quite difficult to delete, doesn't atke much space, but most importantly, certain website look different in FF and it would in IE.
And as with all software, FF could get corrupted by malicious software.
So, best keep it as a backup just in case.
btw. I'm not a geek. I just know many things. LOL
