I heard that flying on standby is a cheap way to travel. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with flying standby to the UAE (either Dubai or Sharjah)? What sort of prices can I expect? How early should I arrive? Can I bring checked in baggage?
Tamumech, you can only fly standby if you have an industry ticket. You can check luggage, but understand it may get there and you may not. Crew members who fly standby or space-available usually have a way to check the passenger loads in order to increase their chances. It's not for the first-timer or faint-hearted.

Try Air Arabia if you want to go to Sharjah.
