speed...i know a group of workers who are not receiving their salaries for almost five months now, without overtime pay...nepalis, bengalis, filipinos,sri lankis....they are working in industrial area for a reputed company, but still they are deprived of everything, including proper health care and medical attention...i hope you can give the sim to them, for them to have this great chance of making a free call to their families back home....please pm me..

Let me remind you one thing... There are different kind of charities... One kind of charity is totally from your personal pocket for which I fully agree that God does not like those people who give the charity and announce in public.

Second thing, in this case, this Qr. 1000 is not from my pocket.. it was given to me in a promotion by Vodafona.

And the mobile set i am just giving to make a call. So once the credit is used I will take back my mobile as sim card.

Coming to the point why I posted on QL to the public is only one reason that I tried myself to find some needy people but couldn't and since this promotion will end by 30 Sept. the money is the card will be lost?

So tell me should I just waste this money if I don't find anyone by myself of it is better to ask people if they know some people who are in need?

I got very good response from QL Community members and tomorrow I will be visiting those places.

You're talking to a person who runs the Qatar Living Volunteer Group who go out on a highly regular basis and help out the needy with various campaigns ranging from Beach Cleanup, Blood Donations, Beat the Heat etc...so I'm sure he knows what to do...I guess he came here cos Qatar Living reaches out to a lot many households, and lot many companies personnel...so anyone...out there who sees a person in need to get on the phones but cant afford one is just what he asked...so it is only fair to bring forward a person or step away from this...

I don't think Speed was trying to show the world that he was pious and gives things to people. He's been a QL member for a long time and has proven with his deeds that he indeed does what he speaks.

His intention with this thread was to try and find the needy people, who would really appreciate the gesture. From what Is see, he has already got a lot of responses and he said he would PERSONALLY go and see before doing something about it.

Which part of his original query did you think was a show-off? It obviously means you don't know him as a person. It was then sad that you accused him of being an attention-seeker. I personally feel that a collective effort (be it finding the needy or making plans to help them) is always better than an individual effort.

And I'm sure Speed has been doing much charity on his own without him necessarily speaking in public about it. Try to see the good in people at least some of the time, my brother.

You don't need to advertise your good deeds here, go out onto the street and just do what you want with your phone. Better yet, donate monthly to good causes that give direct benefit to those that need it most (and not necessarily limited to Qatar).

I know a camp in Kharatiyat, poor guys. They sleep in the building they are buidling, there is about 12-14 of them. They are pretty poor, I send them food when I can and once gave them each phone cards of QR 30, some of them cried.
