Friends in Doha - 7 hrs on a Fri...help!

By missmoneypenny

Hi guys,

I have two friends from England flying through Doha on a Friday...they want to see Doha in 7 hours...they were keen on souqs, shisha and mezze cafes...

I'm not sure what time the old souqs even open up for business...They are going to be here between 8am and 3pm on a Friday...

Can anyone give me some handy hints so that my dear friends are not bored to tears? Thankyou!!!!!!

don't all the hotels have those fancy brunch spreads on the weekend? Or is it saturday morning only? Call your favorite hotel and ask.

Buying anything around in that 7 hours? A lil problem...

King, few shops are open on souk.. and anyway there are only two places worth to see: souk and Corniche..

and they definitely can make it in 4-5 hours that they gonna have.

svelte, yeah, sure.. that's why it's better to keep them in th a/p for 7 hours, right? and to tell them the "stories" about Doha instead..

did not see the word Morning there :)

Well, still most of the shops and malls are closed so ... I don't know ... maybe you can ask them to make it on Saturday ...

King, NO ONE is on the road on Friday morning..

and 3-4 hours to show Doha is more than enough..take them to souk for couple of hours, and then ride them on the Corninche, for about 30-40 minutes.. what esle to see in Doha anyway??.. all together max 3 hours, plus 30 min fromthe airport, plus 30 min to the airport. 4 hours. they have an extra hour just in case...

It is Doha, not New York

7 hours on a friday morning.....guess i agree with ukeng....soak up the sun and a few drinks.it's pointless strolling along dead streets esp in the souq area.well, souq waqif is a good place if u want to show them the architecture and stuff.not so sure 'bout whether the shops will be open.

Keep smiling!

King, it is a Friday morning, how much traffic do you think there will be? An no parking rush for sure.

Qatarisun is right, a few restaurants in Souq Waqif open for breakkie, and you can get shisha out of it also but they will close for prayer around 11:30.

Half an hour to get out of the airport area and traffic and another to go back ...

1 - 2 hours in traffic traveling from a place to another, finding a parking so ... you got nothing but 3 - 4 hours to show them Doha and that is impossible in my opinion ...

shops in souk are mostly closed. 2-3 might be open though. Also I went few times to souk for the breakfast on Friday around 10-11 am. One place used to be always open. Good middles eastern food.. But last time it was few months ago... maybe something has changed since then.. but anyway.. on Friday morning souk looks also nice... not too many people.. your friends can enjoy the environment, and to get this sense of Persian Gulf area... :)

traffic on Friday morning is not heavy either...
