frustrated weekend eve.

Had to cut short the weekend outing and returned home sad, frustrated and dejected.
Is it fair to get a traffic violation ticket if i don't get a parking space and put my car in an alternate place without blocking flow of traffic or any parked car? QLers please give your honest opinion in this issue.
In the absence of a reliable public transport system do we have any other option rather than take our own vehicle and search for a legal parking space?

MRST- the whole story is about the home centre sale, i don't know why, but somehow it drives the women folk crazy. the mushreib branch happens to be my wife's favourite. we went there few days back at 9A.M in the morning and learnt that the shop opens at 10A.M, but still, one hour prior to the opening hour, the parking was full. i think they have only sufficient parking for their staff only.

my question is why are the cops so hyper during weekends? wrong parking means parking in a place with an explicit 'no parking' sign or parking in a way which obstructs flow of traffic or blocks a parked car's way or entrance to a house, it was none in my case. is it a form of expressing frustration........'while i work why others have a weekend...grrrr'

anyways i am happy, at the end, my wife realised that we did not need that extra cushions, curtains, etc etc which was almost a compulsion during every home centre sale. the guilt of having a fine because of her has driven through a strong message which i have not been able to deliver for more than half a decade.....thanks dude.

edward11- the motorists here need to learn a lot about driving etiquette. i believe most of them think that they are driving in a play station, this is not the way to drive with living creatures around. for the time being, just thank God that they don't have those armoured and weapon mounted cars and pray that good sense prevails.

Good news....this is really awful, i think the roads or streets in doha does not have the capacity to do so..

They must first teach people driving attitude...its getting terrible day by day

well you are right somehow. There is no real building code in this country in many ways, Handicapped slopes as well as parking space... in most countries it is regulated by building code home many parking space a retail outlet or commercially used space must provide.. well not here! However they have a law against wrong parking and we have to follow despite other shortcomings.

and there are plenty more example..

good news a 2nd taxi company will start operation in 1-2 months and 6 months later a 3rd company.. :)

Qazi Kashee-- i don't think shopping is enjoyment. it is perhaps the worst way to kill time- i hate it. shopping for the week was not meant to be more worse today.

britexpat-- in my country i wouldnt have thought about taking my car when i know parking would be a problem. things like bus , taxis etc exist in other places.

i fail to understand why this extra effort by the cops during weekends? are we supposed to stay home during the weekends? anyways this 300 riyal fine would save me thousands as i have a strong case against useless shopping. is it not the responsibility of the shop to ensure adequate parking space? is it not the responsibility of the regulating authority to ensure that such big shop should have adequate parking space? if i am penalised then the others should also be held accountable.

This is City. On one should complain others. Very Simple. Whenever you take vehicle you Pray Lord "Oh Lord !!! Make me enter beautifully and make me exit beautifully.Guide me and make my way clear and peaceful. And Protect me in finding fault on others. Anything Good, it comes from you. Anything bad its because of my own hands. You created vast space and universe and 7 skies, stars, Galaxies, Milkyways whatever unknown to my MIND... above my head. And more over that you Created MIND which crosses 7 skies in no time and like to see beyond universe. Sky is always beautiful and can not find any faults on that. And MIND is Much Bigger than sky & Universe.!!! Oh Lord increase me in Wisdom not to roam on the roads and Make my life more peaceful at Home..More Peace after peace more comfort after comfort.."

what a question... you park wrong and you get a ticket and you complain

if the parking is full you think the law will not apply where are you coming from?

go pay your ticket and stay home

If you are not a Qatari national...you have to abide by the rules. How else the traffic department would generate their revenue, if not through penalties??
