Goodbye from Doha Daily!

Doha Daily will no longer be sending out the
front page of The Peninsula each morning.

The maintainer of the Doha Daily mailing list
believes the decision by Peninsula editors to
print a graphic photograph of a schoolboy's
tragic death is unjustifiable on any grounds.

Good on this person!

[mod note: The discussion here is very imilar to this thread; http://www.qatarliving.com/node/419175 so the decision has been taken to lock this one.]

i dont think there is anything wrong........thats what newpapers are ment for in that case they should stop putting pictures in obituaries also...............i mean if its a suicide or accident there is loss of life.

Aana free, jaana free,

If they posted a picture likes the ones ive seen on facebook of the poor guy with his school friends as a rememberance for him then i guess thats ok but him in a pool of blood dead... nah

What they really need to publish is why it smells like sh*t outside Aspire gym. And at the Souq, and various other places...

I think some people are concerned about the fact that he was a school boy, but i agree stealth, death is part of life, you see images of it all the time.

Maybe it was published withought the families concent or somehting...

Its disrespectfull for any picture of someone who has died to be printed in a newspaper... what about their family and friends, do u think its ok?

Good on Doha Daily for taking a stand.

suddenly everone is in a defensive mood. What is the difference between this photo and the images of al other dead that they show in the newspapers?

well, again, it's where the media is going- sensationalist, 'if it bleeds it leads'.

But as I said in another thread this is what you get when you put more of a premium on cost than quality journalism- cheaping out on staff leads to inexperienced mistakes like this. guarenteed this would NOT have happened before the staff shakeups over there!

Thanks for doing that, I just posted a phone number to call and voice our disgust to the editor. I guess they don't understand the psychological trauma this causes everyone including the readers.
