An Egyptian groom who knocked his bride out by fracturing her skull just after their wedding told police he did so at his mother’s request to control his wife.
The unnamed groom said he took his wife to their new home just after wedding and slapped her three times as his mother told him.
“My mother said this would help me control my wife through our marital life.
"She warned me that my brothers are all controlled by their wives because they did not listen to her and hit their brides,” he said, according to Egypt’s 'Al Bawaba News' network.
“After I slapper her, she hit me back. I then went to the kitchen and brought a metal bar, which I used to hit her on the head and body.”
Police arrested the man on charges of causing serious injuries to his wife, who suffered from fractures in her skull and pelvis.
The report said the bride was still unconscious in her wedding dress when her family visited her in hospital in Cairo.
Now we can't brand that type of love-fun-games into domestic violence etc ..... we must not see a tradition & custom as a news piece with media colouring it in a variety of negative light .......... folk culture is innocent .............. people living in metros since they dropped in this world lost touch with what their fore-fathers were doing for simple fun where life skills were tought in a play way .......... where moral lessons were hidden in every act ............ where wisdom was tought at very early age ...........
Brit, In incient India , new bride & groom play so many games in front of all the relatives at reaching groom's home , these games are to get the bride mixed up the groom & aunties & young lasses so that she should feel at home, it's all for the bride to get closer to her groom , understand & have a first hand feeling about his nature , behave , strenth & weekness , likes & dislikes ...... so do it in a fun way ....... there is a fun-game where bride & groom are given peacock feathers while walking around in acircle they just touch those feathers at each others backs .... hit but so softly ..... like morning breeze touches over skin .....

My understanding is that this was the central idea .......... mom wanted to teach self - control to the bride { but bride failed } ......... because if your own mind is under control you would control the society ........... ............. ........... if the bride had controlled herself { anger } she would have qualified to control the groom in the end .......... this was the indirect & farsighted route envisioned by the wise mom .... alas ...... a few takers ............ bride failed to see the positivity the mom was seeing ........... ..............

It is never okay to hit anyone, especially your new wife, 3 times for no reason.

We must look at this incident from the mom's point of view ..... ..... if bride had accepted a man as her groom then she must keep in her mind that whatever is done to her by him has a hidden message which definitely be in her advantage in the long run ................. .......... this is result of thinking instant output from a life teaching incident .......... but the bride failed as expected by the mom ........... ................. mom may be expecting she was a soft hearted lass who knows how to forgive others & tolerate adverse situations ..... hold wife - man relationship in high respect ...

Brit, Who knows this was like a drama to test her resilience but slapping was only a mode , but it's clear she could not control her anger & without giving a thought for what it may be ...... she just hit her groom !
There was no reason on earth for the groom to assault his wife in the first place

she hit the man then only man went to the kitchen & brought the metal bar & ended up with the pelves injury .......................

"Groom knocks out bride" sounds terrible, but in my mind I have an image of him slapping her so hard she faints.
