H1N1 Vaccination.... why only a single dose?
I have taken my toddler and 13 year old for the H1N1 vaccine a few weeks back as we are travelling to a H1N1 hotspot.
I was very very surprised by 2 things.....
1. No live vaccine was given to him or my 13 year old (both my children are in the recommended age bracket for live vaccine).
2. My toddler is not supposed to go back for a second dose as I was informed the vaccine center said one dose is enough (which is contracdictory to WHO recomendations)
Anyone had the same experience or able to shed some light on the reasons why? Just as a side note, there is no vaccine shortage in Qatar so this is not ther reason for the second vaccination.
There is no priority here King, and vaccine was available since the beginning of November.
I had it and so did my 2 sons, google it my friend.

i dont know
i think you are mixing up..
vaccine wasnt available few weeks ago!
its available now only for pilgrims, and will be availble for the second group (people at risk ) and later to the rest.
people at risk like pregnant women, people with chronic diseas..stuff like that
and number of doses , i think it depends on the manfucturer of the vaccine .
Who said it is my doctor? My doctor is the one who said he should be vaccinated twice, the vaccination center said once.
Whats your point in all this Jack? Just trying to be helpful?

Amoud ...dont you trust your Doctor?...
Do you have any other choice?
I am a wee bit concerned about this with my toddler as we are travelling to small village with more than 10 confirmed cases (one being the family next door to my Mom).
Does anyone think I will get any satisfaction by insisting he is vaccinated again? I am unsure of what to do here...

Because this is Qatar and they don't know what the hell they are doing.

as far as my experience is concern and as far as i know it should be 2 doses for a toddler.
