Hail Emirates...But

Hail Superjumbo

Kudos to Emirates management for acquiring the world's super aircraft Airbus 380 this week. And I sincerely hope that Emirates, arguable one of the best airlines in the region, would increase the frequency their flights, especially long-hual ones, and quality of service once more A380s join the fleet.

I have always been an admirer of Emirates although I live in Qatar. But my recent experience during a flight from Dubai to JFK New York and back was frustrating.

Seats in the economy section of the lovely Boeing 777-300ER aircraft didnot have enough leg space and the quality of food served should've been better. The flight attendants were too lethargic to respond to passngers' request for a drink or two and one had to wait 20-30 minutes to get response. This was quite unbecoming of an emerging airline. Hope the concerned senior officials would look into such matters to boost the reputation of Emirates.

To be honest next month will be my first flight with Qatar Airways, so I may not be in the best position to judge, but surely it is likely that QA is bound for great success given the booming Middle-Eastern airline industry and the airline's plans for huge expansion. Perhaps it could be a very serious rival for Emirates and Ethiad in the forseeable future?

Once again Emirates leaves Qatar Airways trailing. Qatar Airways will have to wait untill 2012 until they receive there first A380.

Qatar Airways is a joke in the aviation industry, a company that is yet to make a profit and still can't sort out the circus on the ground.

Mr Al Baker is wisdom has just authorised a maximum of a 4.5% increase in salary for his slaves depending on the 'home' currency.

Sorry, but the "air hostess" comment made me think of "hostess cupcakes"

I too have heard it called "cattle class."

i was in airline busimess until 2004 and i witnessed the trend of cutting the numbers of crew they are allocating for each flight...probably because they want to ensure the amount of their profit but the thing they did'nt see, they are losing passengers to other rival airline because of giving service only suit up for camel riders...it's easy...yoou don't want the service.give it up...you don't want the amount, get what your money deserved....

I don't mind flying coach class, but in the other hand, would not want you sitting near me and have you act like a mad cow for 9 hours of mowing and not flying.

Firstly, I hate that economy class is almost always poor nowadays. Only ten of fifteen years ago the service in the economy sections of an airline were far superior.

Oh, and anyone who calls economy 'cattle class' is probably someone who is used to flying business or first class. What these people won't admit is that the premium classes of most airlines are never worth paying many times more than they would in economy (with some exceptions eg. Singapore Airlines).
