HAPPY DIWALI TO YOU ALL!!!!!

Diwali is a major Indian Hindu festival, Celebrated as the "Festival of Lights," where the lights or lamps signify the uplighting of darkness and victory of good over the evil within.

The celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional dīpa or deeya (earthen lamp), and fireworks.

Diwali is celebrated for 5 days; In short as follows,

Day 1: It is an auspicious day for shopping of utensils and gold.

Day 2 : It signifies the victory of good over evil and light over darkness .

Day 3: I the most important day of Diwali. Lakshmi puja means the worship of the goddess of wealth Laxmi, and lighting of lamps all across the streets and homes, to welcome prosperity and well being in.

Day 4: This day is dedicated to love between Husband and wife. Men present gifts to their wives on this day.

Day 5: On this day, brothers and sisters meet to express their love and affection for each other. Like in all religions, most Indian festivals too bring together families, Bhaiduj brings together married sisters and brothers, and is a significant festive day for them.

So my friends above all this is the time to enjoy for us. So please take out few mins from your busy schedule and make it an opportunity to wish your Indian friends 'A VERY HAPPY DIWALI'!!!!!

A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS DIWALI TO YOU ALL!!!!

Ksarat, unfortunately not much luck that way. Been here for almost two decades now, not many Diwali's I've celebrated back in Bombay. But yes, for the ones that I was there, we surely enjoyed those a lot.

I was actually there in Bombay in 2005 and was great fun at my wifey's residence. Pa-in-Law (Uncleji back then) had gotten loads of crackers, anaars and phuljhatis, but definitely no rassi bomb. LOL.

As for my plans, well pretty sure of getting an invitation from couple of very close families. Plus wifey's got her own girl group thing for home on Friday, so will have to juggle the two.

Shreeya, yeah Om Shanti Om is gonna rock (SRK Rules!!!), yet I'd wanna watch Saawariya too just cos its a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. Am sure its gonna be an average love story but expect SLB to do wonders even with that!

Oh thanks for no gajar ka halwa. I thought I'd just share our gulab jamuns and doodi ka halwa with you. :P Lewser!!!

Rayyz...I wouldn't have beaten you to the thread buddy...although I have to admit that my fingers were itching a lot to post a thread...but I wouldn't have...LOL...

Crackers...thanks for that buddy...let me check that out today...so what's in the planning for the Festival..who's going where...

Shreeya...hey there buddy...thanks and same to you as mentioned earlier...have you noticed my English...(i feel proud of it nowadays)...Sound pollution...noise pollution..never ever thought of it on this day of Diwali...

Back in college, where my and my friends took a flat to stay, opposite that we used to have a Buddha Khoosat saala neighbour...we used to bear him, bear him and finally when Diwali came, after the complete street finished with their crackers, my friends and me placed (this was at about 2300hrs that evening) a 5000-wala in front of his door, and lit that thing and RAN AWAY...BHAAGO...Oooo that guy didn't come out for 2 days...it would be sad to exaggarate if he had started using Hearing Aids after that evening...LOL...Was way tooo funny...we disturbed a lot of neighbours like that...

I'm sure Rayyz would have surely done things of this kind...have you buddy>?

Shreeya...Gaajar Ka Halwa...Kab...Kahan...Abhi Bolo...

What about the Movies people...what's happening for that...

A friend of mine supplies crackers in Doha from China, well am not too sure if those crackers are flammable kinds though, but very good for outdoor parties where you need not much noise and lots of confettis in the air.

As for the fireworks, I think you could find those on that major street in the old airport road area, just a little ahead of the Hot Break bakery. We got it from there for last diwali and new years too.

Happy Diwali!!!

Crackers...you may find it in Indian Super market on Airport road, after FFC.

And well, I will surely take care with crackers, thanks though. I am lighting very few crackers just to mark the celebration. I always followed this in India too, just not to pollute the air at least from my side. Also I always buy the no-noise crackers to help eliminate the noise pollution too.

So, why don't you come down to taste a very famous "Gajar ka Halwa'?
