If no-one has already posted this, then I'd like to wish all our Philippino friends a very happy June 12 !

Is it a holiday in The Philippines? Celebrations? Fireworks? Quiet family day? Normal working day?

I need to be educated about this ;o)

laid back Fil Friends? GMA so famous in shifting holidays that are 'sandwiched'- it's called holiday economics- to promote tourism. The Filipino families can plan their travel locally, to get to know local tourist spots. Huwag maging banyaga sa sariling bansa (not to be a 'foreigner' to his own home country).

You mean both countries Independence day falls on June 12?interesting to know!

The Phils. Pres. proclaim the holiday celebration last Monday(11th), so just like Shavone said Pilipinos will have a long holidays:

Sat-Sun(normal off days) and Monday(Independence holiday)=3 days off

Interesting... Russian Embassy told me they agreed with Phil. Embassy to alternate the celebration days in Doha (in both countries independence days fall on June 12) - one year Russians will do it on June 12th, the other Philipinos on June 12. And now our laid back Philipino friends moved it to 11th...

Our policemen are better than those in that TV show contestant "so you think you can dance" directing bumper to bumper traffic while doing strutts etc etc....lol, its one of our highlights in our tourism industry BTW:-)

You had me confused, for a minute there, when you said the Day had been moved to 11 June for long week end. So much about Islam etc on this forum I completely forgot The Philippines is predominately a Christian country! sheesh - I've been out of the UK too long already! lol

since I visited the Philippines, but amongst the lots of nice memories I have the one that always sticks in my mind is your traffic police!

I couldn't take my EYES of one of them, standing in the centre of all this chaotic traffic at a busy crossroad, directing the traffic. It was like watching a robotic dance! Quite amazing! like a human traffic light lol Not sure if the traffic took any notice though! hee hee

Do they still do that?
