Have they lost their mind

Just being symphathetic on the sides of Muslims. Christian leaders must act on it immediately to stop the burning. Or else it must ignite a great divide among Muslim and non muslim people within the community of each country. We must respect ones faith.

I have read some manuscript about Islam and I found it a noble book. It does recognise Jesus' work on earth as the son of the virgin Mary. There are lot of lessons to be learned from the Holy Quran.

This is one of those cases where law is abused, and common sense and decency are completely ignored.

leaders representing nearly all religions in US have assembled and have condemned this act. they have jointly decided on taking some measures so that such hateful acts are not repeated..

It's a church with only 50 practitioners in Gainesville (read middle of nowhere) Florida. Who Cares?

As a muslim, I find it very hard to sit still and do nothing about this. It sadens me that some people can do such an act but I always try to remember that God gave us this message in the form of Quran and he WILL protect it; these people will find their punishment from God, if they dont repent, in this life and/or the after life.

Ok, I know I am reviving a dead thread, but the phrase "militant Christians" stood out for me. I think it should be highlighted for everyone who thinks that non muslims use the phrase "militant Islam."

Islam teach us clearly to be patient & persevere in spreading the true message of GOD...

But yes thats exactly what these people want. That the Muslims react with force hence proving their anti Islamic message that Islam is the religion of hate. Why give in when Islam advices us clearly to be patient & persevere in spreading the true message when we encounter such trials and tribulations be it major or minor? (refer to Surah Asr) May Allah make us of the patient & make easy our trials.. Aameen!

But it shouldn't result in violence in my opinion.

The problem is there are people from Iran to Indian subcontinent, to Indonesia to South Phillipines to play with emotions of people after seeing the flashing news on TVs. The mob mentality takes a ugly turn, it did happen with cartoons. Many innocents were killed including children and women by way of police firing or extremists planting explosives. Islam is religion of Allah, no person on earth can lower its greatness or could end it except by his will.

If I weren't married, and you weren't married, and you weren't Muslim, I would kiss you! You always make so much sense and make me respect your faith more and more. :)

UNITY among brotherhoods can brings as ONE... we have different faith/cultures & religions but what color of blood runs to our body?? mine is BLUE...lol..

Pilgram theoretically you are right, if you just ignore them, it will die out but practically humans can't. They know it will get a reaction so that's why they are doing it. Dumb Idiots, spreading the hatred.

But I agree with pilgram. By staging protests be it violent or otherwise the Muslims are giving in to these nut-jobs who are for sure attention starved if nothing else! Its better to ignore them.. after-all its not like they are doing such actions in Muslim countries (like they'd dare..cowards!)They are doing it in lands where its not going to be considered illegal. They can burn the Quran but they can't burn the message, Alhamdullilah!

Unfortunately the targeted group has a kind of social-political retardation when it comes to dealing with insults outside of their own countries. If they could only learn to ignore, like so many of us ignore their insults to our culture and religions.

Freedom of expression does allow people to burn books, flags, etc. That doesn't stop Muslims from worship. And yes, freedom DOES allow you to come and do that in our countries, as long as you have a valid visa mate.

Stop thinking that YOUR values and laws are universal. They aren't.

They aren't asking for respect, they don't care about respect. They believe they are right and everyone else can go hang. If everyone just ignored these cry's for attention they would go away and this whole thing would be as ineffectual as pissing in the wind.

Unfortunately some people equally as desperate for attention and who's equally delusional about the greatness of their religion will counter and instead of one silly group pissing in the wind, we'll have two.

Respect other religion to have other religion respect you. We just pray that they be enlightened.

This is taking freedom of expression a bit too far. I strongly condemn it.

If other's were more mature they would realize that violence was not the answer and that the best answer when dealing with people like this is to ignore. Unfortunately others are very immature and obviously haven't learned the school yard saying of "sticks and stones"

Pilgram at you age, your comments should atleast be mature.Playing with somebody else freedom of religion which is protected in American constitution.What these groups Or you want more killings, voilence, innocents getting killed.You call your society free, but freedom doesn't allow me to come to your place take a book ,if it is religious or even pronographic and burn to show freedom of expressing what you keep is not liked by me.

What this group will acheive if few hundreds burn,(Allah forbiden) millions will be printed world wide and millions have byhearted its verses. At the end it is last testament of Allah, as were Bible and Tohra,being the earlier testaments, Allah wil protect,Islam and the Holy Quran until end of this world,Insha Allah. As a protest Muslims any where in the world have never ever burned Religious book of any religion. I protest this move and pray for better sense to prevail. Ameen

Pilgram you are right "Everyone has a right to freedom of speech & expression." but the idea of the event is totally wrong...

I dont want to even go through the link as I am afraid the comments there would be more hurting. There should be a limit to freedom of speech or expression. Positive debates on appropriate forums between religions or cultures would be an ideal way to express oneself. Unfortunately, there were extremists already on our side & the extremists on the other side are getting more vocal and aggressive now.

If you don't like it, don't attend the event. Everyone has a right to freedom of speech & expression.

I like the idea RJ... be united & live as ONE... inspite of different religions & cultures...

I hope & pray, it never happens. Such maniacs can be found in every society, country or religion. These acts would further increase the gap between followers of the two major religions...I am telling you, its going to be a disaster.
