heat related disorders

Silence is sumtimes misconstrued as a sign of weakness...

in my previous experiences with some rude and obnoxious characters on QL i let my energies be wasted on answering them and getting drawn in cheap mudslinging wars...

but looking at it ina differnt way... only such jokers make QL funny.... so i decided to break my self imposed exile and decided to continue writing... am sure many more unwanted critics ( i realised there are quite a few here) will continue to rant.... but i will not humor them i will continue to ignore them with such impunity that they deserve

we just cant wish these comedians away... jokers may come and trolls may go but QL goes on forever...

For people who have lived in Doha the last few months they wud know the best part of the year is getting over.... the short but sweet doha winter is almost over and days are getting warmer gradually....

middle east has the some of the worst summers in the world... for a few first timers this can prove real difficult to tide over...

what can we do to equip ourselves better to tide over the sweltering summer?

try and avoid direct heat... in one of my previous articles i had mentioned the damage caused to skin due to over exposure to heat. avoiding direct harsh sunlight is the first and best way to protect urself. some people who have the luxury of working from home or working at nights are lucky in this regard. But most of us work during the day and some work outside on site locations.

If you work in an open sunny area, cover yourself up. One good reason why natives of middle east are fully covered is this... it prevents unwanted radiation.

remember to cream yourself with sunblock or a moisturiser.

drink loads of water and fresh juices.... avoid bottled and canned juices... fr4esh juices al ways better.

always carry some rehydration salts with you.... for emergencies salt and sugar solution is best.

continue to keep urself adequately hydrated that will do....

some people get caught in desert during picnics without water and shelter and this can lead to severe heat stress, heat exhaustion and even heat stroke which can at times be lethal...

in these cases medical attention will immediately be needed....

but having said all this its fun in the sun if you are adequately prepared for whats coming...

have fun and be safe.....

I am gonna write on heat related disorders... for a few people who had personally emailed me asking me to continue writing on QL.

I am not a lawyer or a doctor but it seems to me that there is nothing wrong with offering generic medical advice.

Sexy doctor (to my limited knowledge) is offering sensible generic advice, she is not offering specific medical advice to an individual with a specific problem. If she was, she could expect payment and to offer her medical credentials, but she is not.

Many people offer useful advice on this site, that is what QL is for. Why should it be any different for Sexy Doctor?

I am an investment banker. If I thought I had any professional knowledge that would be useful to memebers of this forum, I would be happy to give it. I don't think anyone would be remotely interested and that it would be of any use, so I won't do so.

However, if anyone wanted to use my professional services, I would charge them and then would also be happy to prove my professional qualifications. Until then, it is really no one else's business.

Just leave it alone...enough is enough. Where do you get off telling people what they should be doing on here. I don't see you asking others for qualifications when they give their opinions on here about certain things. Use some common sense!!! Leave this guy alone.

Oh and to the regulars, get over yourselves. Everyone has a right to post comments on here, even if they are new. Calling everyone trolls, saying that all these problems are coming from newcomers is rubbish as your the ones that are constantly bickering. GROW UP!!!

Why did Boris's post disappear on this thread...hmmmmm

There is nothing in the article that cannot be obtained from the Internet.

I am not being funny or having a go at you however what you have posted is yes good advice and common sense, however it is advice from someone who is stating he is a Doctor.

I am formally requesting that you at least supply myself and the other users of QL your practitioners licence number so we can be safe in the knowledge that any advice you do give is based on sound knowledge and experience.
