Hello Everyone....

Hello everyone....

Have been getting a feel of the group for the past couple of weeks and must say times sure have changed since I was here last. So just thought I'd worm my way in. I left Doha 14 years ago after I completed my schooling, at a time when such collective socializing was unheard of. I've just been offered a position in QP and so am planning a shift back. I'm an Emergency Traumatologist and my wife's a pediatrician.

In the past couple of weeks I've come to enjoy the easy banter and friendships that seem so much a part of this group and hope to be a part of soon. It almost seems like I know the people who I read about everyday....whether it be Novita, Giasi, E4, PM, Gypsy, and all the rest (a big HI to all). I should be shifting there sometime in August/Sept. if QP is to be believed.

Hope to see everyone soon. Do reply and make my day. Peace and Love people. Caio.

Jauntie / Swiss, thanks for the welcome. Feels good to connect. Rather sporadic posts from me cause of work timings, but will try to keep up with the threads......till next time ila-l-liqa...

the rate of accidents at the old crazy roundabout has increased after they brought in the signal. It was crazy alright but at least the drivers were more alert than they are right now after the signals have come up

no airport sails roundabout,no parachute roundabout too...i have been here for 5 years and it is still hard for me to adapt to the change.Change is good, but here in doha they decide to put a new layer of asphalt on an old road, block it,ask us to use alternate routes ( which dont exist)and one morning it sends chills down yr spine to finally see the new road,u r happy, driving on a new road, that makes yr life easier, then that same day in the evening, its blocked again.they r digging it out to fix the pavement or to destry a roundabout that has been there while they r fixing the road.Daaa !?

Pls dont laugh at me...but Landmark is very far from where i live, everytime i figure out how to get there, they block that route..and i now that i have 5 ways to get there..i believe my husband jinxed it coz he isnt happy when i shop there ..hahaha

As they say when theres a will, theres a way....

I guessed it from your ID..without Sheik..lol TN or Kerala? I wonder why they dont take new doctors in Doha. clinic. we have only one Indian Doc and she is always fully booked. Probably your area of specialization is much needed in other locations.

My Mrs would keep approaching it and turm right, then do a u turn at the next available spot, come back and repeat the exercise until she could turn right onto the road she wanted.

Welcome to QL. Good to see more newcomers in QL. Will you be working in QP Doha Clinic or any other location? Most of the new doctors are now working in Ras Laffan Clinic. Are you from south India? You will like Doha much more than before, changed a lot during the last decade. You will have a great stay in Qatar as your parents are also here. Wish you all the best.

the crazy round about is the signal at the intersection between el handasa street and the airport street, and yes it was a double roundabout where people used to have a lot of accidents

welcome aboard Sheikhsiva

There's a signal in place now. But the name has stuck. It's called the Crazy Signal.

It was the next roundabout after the Al Mana one when coming from the Airport roundabout side. Now what I hear is that they've all been converted into signals. Sigh... Novita crazy roundabout had about 4 roundabout (or was it 5) and there were tons of people who just wouldn't go near that area to avoid it.

You can have all the confusion you want. Drive around and your head will be spinning. Your dad's right. It's a mess.

Yeah PM, My dad and mom are still over there, have been there for the pat 35 years, since before I was born. And yes E4 have been hearing a lot from them about the changes since i was last there sometime in 2002. Me dad says, just about everything's been dug up or replanted or relaid so am looking forward to it all ( and WHAT!! no Crazy roundabout?, that was like a national monument to confusion.)

Welcome, Sheikhsiva. You are returning to a much-changed Doha but I'm sure with your past experience in the ways of the Gulf you will have an easier transitional period.
