It's true that we dont have any channels here that broadcast HD. However you may try a satellite receiver that can upscale standard definition to 720 or 1080 (i or p), with which you will can either use a Component cable (HD capable analog) or HDMI (HD Digital) provided this new receiver these outputs.

Another thing you can try. Firstly I doubt if your current receiver has Component video out (Three cables for video), but if it does; the existing SD quality will be slightly better

Example of upscaling is PS3 which now has the capability of upscaling/upconverting normal DVDs, DivX videos and even older PS1 and PS2 games, all to HD 1080p ...

cheers .. :-)

There are no HD dishes here as no channels are broadcasting in HD. HD is a format not a signal. there are very few countries that broadcast in HD. Most of the T.V.s you buy here are made for countries that already broadcast in HD, so here it is just a gimmick and the only HD benifit you get is from your gaming consoles. Most will buy a HD t.v. here, as we did, as Australia is starting to broadcast in HD so when we return home we get the benifit from it.

HDTV...Red Blue?...? Are you using Red & Blue Pins or

Yellow-Video,

White-Audio&

Red-Audio

Pins?

No Satellite Receivers here have HDMI connectivity ...yet...so you will not get a Hi-Density output.

Recently I have seen DVDplayer with HDMI-out pins but no SAT-Reciver with HDMP pins (they look like USB sockets).

There's no point getting an HD dish receiver cos none of the channels here broadcast in HD.

MAJID - you will not get HDMI quality picture from your receiver, only normal quality. Are you seeing worse than normal quality?

MAJID...HDMI..

You must be connecting with the RED/Yellow/White pins from the Humax to the HDTV. This gives you only Standard Difination but should still be good enough.

Depends upon the satellite signal strength. If the signal is poor it shows up on the HDTV more than it shows up on the normal TV.

Connect a DVD player and connect with the same Red /Yellow & White pins. If it gives a clear image you know the signal strength is weak or the cable is getting inteferance from other lines (usually the terminating pin of the Cable Wire is not properly connected).

Note also the images the Shops display on 1080 TV are usually from Blue-Ray DVD which have EXCELLENT quality and I hope you are not comparing it to them.

I don't think the humax receiver has HDMI output, so I guess it's just being connected via AV cable, or S-video. Are you getting a picture with worse quality than you'd expect from an AV/s-video connection?

Here that are broadcasting in High def. People are confusing HD format with digital. Digital is only a signal.

the reason your ps3 works as it is already formatted in HD as with most of the games. Until they start broadcasting in HD then you won't get the full effect from your T.V the other thing to make sure of is the T.V. HD ready or is it full HD ? if it is only HD ready then you will still need a seperate decoder to recive HD T.V when they start broadcasting, A HD T.V has the decoder already embedded so no need for a seperate decoder. But as I said They are not broadcasting in HD here yet for any channels.
