Help schools needed URgently

I have read that there is a drive for education. So that leaves me wondering... Why on earth are there no places at the schools? It is unheard of that children would be allowed to be at home and not to be at school of some sort. Seems strange that would be allowed to happen, as this would be of no benefit to them. Also this is bad for development. I have been told that some kids have moved schools three times in one year WHAT! I like I'm sure many people are about confused why there are waiting list big enough that could open another school. So come on some one open up another school. How can there be an influx of new workers here with kids and no extra schools? We have tried all private schools.( apparently kids get moved around in them also hmm yet they charge so much can't be much cop can they?) so would it be feasible to send them to an independant school for time being. Any help or advice would be out of this world. Feel free to comment on all if not some of the above.

Mimi, I understand that, you understand that, I'm just sayin' that the Qatar government may not see it as a number one priority. I have been seeing a lot of "anti-family" rules and regs lately seemingly designed to discourage trailing spouses and kids. I, too, worry about the kinds of expats that will attract to Qatar. However, I also worry about parents who raise their kids in Qatar to have no sense that this is NOT their home and, indeed, capriciously can be re-patriated to a home they don't know well.

Bachus, the question is against whom does Qatar need to protect itself. Is anybody attacking Qatar? And, if it was a country like Iran or Saudia Qatar had no chance at all. The money is simply wasted. Or does Salman Al Sulaiti mean the bribes that Qatar paid (and still pays) to the Taleban?

Thanks mimi for such information, highly appreciated :)

Salman Alsulaiti--ROFL. Are you kidding me? Qatar does not protect itself. The giant American military base and the presence of Exxon, Shell, etc. ensure that the U.S. will not let Iran or KSA take this resource-rich, tiny rock over.

i said more and more people are arriving there is a need for more schools. The main part of the question was educational, as that is my background the need to help kids develop. Children need to thrive in an environment where there are other children, not at home all day everyday with adults. Oh and Thanks again Mimi I appreciate your words.

Your comment....There are plenty of schools for Qatari nationals. I'm not sure that building, financing, overseeing schools for expat kids is a high priority for Qatar.

If not for expats, this country would still be a few tents and some camels like 50 years back! Expats built this country, and continue to develop it for the qatari nationals and other expats who were born and raised here, and still live here. It is the only country they know as home.

Palmer, Wakra has new international schools, Wakra hospital is almost ready to be fully open, Ezdan Wakra mall is across the street going up. and more new development to come as Wakra develops, it will be like Doha with corniche,The rail system, hotels, schools, culture museums etc. just remember Rome was not built in a day, so have patience my friend, Qatar is developing as fast as it can.

Salam

Oh here we go with the talk about my country debate. Look for crying out loud no one is having a go at the country. The country is great it's fantastic woopy doo. We are acknowledging that with development other things have to change. Please keep the discussion to what it is a not bring in the get back to your country stuff. That's old hat and boring. Schools have problems where ever you go oops sorry I don't mean all schools. I'm saying if your developing a country to compete on world stage then everything has to grow with it. Yes cultures may stay the same but other things change. So if there are many peoPle are coming here to work then be Prepared to build more housing more hotels more schools more security for events more footballs for the world cup haha

Believe it or not, this military money goes to protecting the country you are staying in. So I wouldn't be complaining if I were you. I'm not gonna say anything inappropriate for the sake of my pride ... but I don't like when all people can do is criticize other countries bad choices. You have no right criticize Qatar. You don't see me going around criticizing your home countries ... (it's called being polite).

Thank You For Your Time

P.S. LincolnPirate the word you've written in your signature is considered inappropriate here in Qatar.

Where does all the military spending go? Besides equipping every soldier with an LC, that is?

Or in other words, Qatar ranks at position 120 in the world when it comes to expenses for education, and at position 2, when it comes to expenses for the military (based on the GDP).

10% of the GDP goes to the military, 3.3% goes to education. (Source: World Factbook). Doesn't this say it all?
