Hi Folks! I had a WONDERFUL week in Oman, but how has it been here on QL, what have I missed?

.
.
So much happens so fast on this general forum it would take me HOURS to read back to catch up on all the gossip. So come on, each one of you give me a paragraph or two summing up how the last week (in your opinion) was on QL.

Who hates who, anyone banned?
What happened at Scarlett's Homecoming Do - any new friendships made or old ones broken?
Any gory discussions on sex, drugs, rock 'n roll or religion?
Was it just boring old love sick threads OR spicy racy hot topics?
Fresh blood taken from newcomers? (hope not!)
Anyone been fishing, filming, bowling?
Information, Information ...

Feed meeeeeeeeeeeee :D

It wasn't intended as a thread to be used for personal insults :(

By jauntie• 3 Nov 2007 16:41
jauntie

I hadn't looked back at this thread of mine but when I just did, I thought 'gosh! I must be ever so popular, 'cos another 32 posts have been made!'

Ha ha ha! Well I guess I DID ask for an update on the week's events whilst I had been enjoying to calm of the Omani people with their hills and beaches and friendly persona. However, I hadn't expected the week's events to actually spill over into this thread! :P

OK I think it's time to settle down please. I don't want any nasty personal conflicts in a thread I started - it reflects badly on my untainted threadfulness :D

Group hug?

Guess not .... but thanks anyway to all who said 'welcome back' and filled me in!

has caused her to insult the daughter everytime the daughter was enquiring...this resulted in the daughter being twisted in the head & is polluting the brains of her students...wasn't there earlier a thread where a lady warned that she is never gonna register her kids in that university because of this twisted american teacher in some ECU?

I really don't give a s**t of what you think about my identity. All of you are nothing but some brown dirt stuck in my toilet. You don't have any dignity at all...specially PM who (as I heard) is polluting the brains of her students. They should consider your reputation PM..many question marks about you

I wonder PM why do you have an itch every time Scar is being insulted? Is it because you miss insults like her or is it the nature of Americans? (since bug is included)

So far I don't remember making any family threats to anyone, but if any of you have been subject to such a thing....well...I would not be surprised and I will definitely not complain about it.

BUT, when I was at the airport in Salalah a little shop was selling cowboy hats HAHAHAHA

but (and I have to say this) the roads were designed and constructed by the Brits and the people were taught how to drive by the Brits :D :D

We drove through the most amazing road, cut through the mountains, known as the 'zig zag' road. It was truly awesome! Balfour Beatty (British) dynamited through the mountains to build the road - took 6 years to complete, I believe. The Omanis are extremely proud of it!

Taylor Woodrow did lots also.

the safest type of road?i will not suggest you one because depends on your driving style and the time you drive.rush hours always crazy or late night at weekend because of drunken drivers.big problem.but Autobahns normally are safe,me never had any problems just the quality of the streets.

My aunt lives in Freiburg, I was there this summer and went all around Germany from there. My favorite road was from Freiburg to Stuttgart passing through Schwengin (sp?), just beautiful, I had my face glued to the window throughout the trip, and when I got back here I tried to imagine the roads here as the autobahnns...quite hard I must say!

the project we worked on in Iraq was the, then, new Basrah International Airport - we were about 10 Brits to 300+ Germans all living and working together on the Airport site. Jauntie, the Germans are seen as a very serious hard working people, they are but they love to relax and they know how to enjoy themselves and unlike some stories they are extremely friendly and helpful......and they love their beer.

As for the Autobahns, yeah they are good but they are so full these days, 15 years ago they were great to drive on....not so much traffic and not so many idiots on the them........sorry shouldnt say idiots but I wrecked my car 2 days ago on the autobahn due to an idiot.....he could have killed me.........thank god for new safety technology

Yer. I'm now deperate to trim down - even bought scales this morning, so it must be bad!

Talha? We went to Muscat for about 3 nights and took a tour around the City. My husband was last in Muscat in 1975, so it was quite a sentimental journey for him.

Then we went down to Salalah for 4 nights. What a beautiful place. Hub also worked there in the early 70s and it was quite funny to find that the driver knew the of the people we mentioned, some of whom were still in Salalah.

When we left, yesterday, a nice Monsoon was building up - I think today it has hit, and run right up the coast from Salalah to Muscat.
