Hidden radars; to finance 2022!!??

hislam
By hislam

Since I arrived here, I was fascinated by the fact that Traffic violations are not dealt with as National Income, as it’s the case back home.
Radar hidden behind a tree on the right side of the road from Markhia st. to TV R/A detected me on 3 consecutive days till I checked the site then I went back to locate it.
Is this a paradigm shift, a way to enforce law or is it simply a way to drain personnel for 2022.

How many of you Drive Within the Speed Limit??? Some may do for sure, but Majority don't, be it in Land Crusiers, BMWs, Dodge, Mercs....Reason being if you drive these at 75 or 80 km/h it feels as if you are dring not even on 60 km/h.But yet again, Safety of You, Your Family, and Others on the Road is the Prime Responsibility of the Driver...

Landmarks attracts a lot of attraction from all over doha, for unknown reason

I live nearby and there's police patrol every day

last night they were interrogating bunch of shabab girls in a humvee kindof vehicle. at the main entrace.

btw its simply craxy, the front road says 80 and then 100 towards westbay. I see the camera flashing all the time

Its cuz this not Egypt this country has law and order rules and laws do's 'n don’ts and for a careless expat such as ur self who keeps on repeatin the same Offense! Over 'n over again it's only fair you got caught cuz ur a reckless driver who puts everybody's life at danger by carelessly going over the allowed speed limit so here is something I can suggest to you. Learn from your mistake and stop crying abt it LOL

Yep, and if you ask me I would support more police patrolling to see if they start arresting people for driving and behaving like criminals.

I almost smashed some guy's window yesterday at landmark because he wouldn't just stop for a pedestrian.

Drive within the limit then you will not have any issue.

seriously if the outcome is to make the roads a safer place for those of us who abide by the laws, and our children, then does the "reason" for this really matter?Whats wrong with some people? why would your minds go that far as to wonder why a good thing is being done rather than being pleased with it and using it for your betterment? Given the amount of fatalities and causalities due to speeding vehicles and those breaking laws on the road, does it really worry you as to what was the law makers "real" intention in trying to bring about some kind of change? Mankind,I tell ya!

krazysyklone, well those are just words since I always get to see people driving around in a reckless way.

Mike nobody is bothered about driving responsibly here.

The key issue is how to spot and avoid radars and how the government should make it easier to spot radars.

By anonymous• 28 Jun 2011 08:18

And the thread keeps twisting around legality issues instead of wondering how we can better carry ourselves as the responsible citizens we are supposed to be.

Geeeez, it really gets on my nerves!

In my experience govt/traffic department is actually trying to unhide the radars.

ever noticeed bright yellow/red flashy strips on radars that give you reflections from over a km ?

I have noticed an increase in hidden radars over the last 6 months. Occasionally you would have one set up at the side of the road, but it was very infrequent. I have seen them all over the place now. Salwa road (past IA) has an unmarked Prado that sets up a camera mounted on the windshield insde the car. He likes to park in random spots along side of the road (to look as if broken down) and catches all the speeders.

I have also noticed depolyable radar boxes that they have been hiding on Al Waab. They place these on the opposite side of the bus stops, where your view is obstructed until you drive past. These have been getting set up frequently.

I really dont want to debate on should / shouldnt be speeding, but I am interested to hear what has caused the apparent crack-down. Is it money driven or are they actually trying to enforce traffic laws for once?

as i know . hidden radars are illegal . the government denies them and said there is a speed reminder before any radar . this is not right . one time these stupid radars -or the company which gain much money from operating them- caught me instead of other personell who bypassed me and violated the speed . i tried to convince the company which work for the police but finally i paid for others violations !!

There is no such conceptual shift as you perceive. Had that been the case, you'd not see red/yellow striped radar camera posts around. I wasn't in Doha from August 2010 to May 2011. When I returned, I found all speed and traffic light camera posts around the city painted in red/yellow stripes. Do you know speed camera are installed on stretches of road where the authorities have to "warn" the motorists that this road is "under radar surveillance". I am sure this is the case in entire Qatar.

Leatherface, was that a joke or you've been trippin?

By Leatherface• 27 Jun 2011 23:48

Thats not true. Locals don't get caught at traffic lights and speed cameras as often as expats do coz locals don't drive like nuts. They're pretty expert in driving and driving has nothing to do with the size of the vehicle. However, they do pay fines if they violate traffic rules. I've been a witness several times.

Hislam, you make me laugh. Start driving as a civilized human being and you'll stop thinking about any hidden radars.

right...unlike those "seen" and known radars which any reckless fool knows to play around with these hidden radars are needed to keep at least some of them in check.

That said its my perception that the wealthier shayateen on the road must actually have a separate budget monthly budget to pay up their traffic fines and would hence not care a bit of any hidden radars!

simple, if you know there is going to be hidden radar, you are bound to drive at the correct speed.

Why are you thinking about money?

Maybe someone in the government finally opened a newspaper and found out the number of deaths on roads due to speeding.

I and all who are exceeding the speed limits are WRONG. Is this what we're discussing now?

This debate is settled in most of the world already; some countries adopt the "hidden Radars" and others don't. Bearing in mind the fact that most of the "DON'Ts" are those who claim to be the "Civilised" ones (I'm not saying they are, they think so).

The concept is to catch and fine scheming drivers like you, who only slow down at the site of a radar ;-)

After all we should follow speed limit. its for our safety.

BUT for the violation Im not so sure if Local can get away from this.

because I think only expat is the paying their vilation and local are not."its only my opinion" not sure about this.

I was not trying to blame somebody else for my fault.

I was just discussing what's behind this conceptual shift.

Whether it's a way to enforce law or is it simply a way to drain personnel for 2022, either way, you need to drive within the speed limits ;-)

driving following the rules (meaning speed limits), up until today you wouldn't even know there was a hidden camera/radar on that location.

Just abide by the rules and you won't have the need to locate that radar spotting you continuously.

Regards!!
