The Sherizad has stopped allowing Prostitutes from entering. So has the Qube. Dont know about other places but this has atleast started.
May be someone should update the post on Bars as it gives quite a pathetic image of this country.
I have been here a month and the place is quite opposite to that projected here. Its quite, peaceful and plenty to do if you get your ass out of home.

The law of demand and supply rules here...prices have to go down and supply should be unlimited. Then alone, can we see a truely flourishing economy...

In Paloma's someone pointed out to me a somewhat older woman sat at the bar, and informed me that she was who you went to if you wanted a prostitute. Pimp-tastic!

Err, tess, I think it's in a prostitute's best interest to look like one. If she looked like a respectable, married woman, she'd sit there all night while the guys assumed she was waiting for her husband (since it's probably illegal to wear a sign.) And you better believe hotel security knows who is on the game and who's not!

It has become a bit expensive since the pound weakened against the dollar.

In the 18 months run-up to the Asian games the Sherazad used to be awash with Chinese hookers. They could be recognised by the converstaional opener "I give you nice time 500 riyals yes?" When the Games were over they seemed to clear them out but I suspect the reputation has just lingered since then, though now and again there is a likely suspect.

It can be hard to tell, for - as a comic there once remarked - there is one question that there is no way of asking a girl without risking offence: "Excuse me, but just to be clear, are you a prostitute or do you just look like one?".

Last week was at sheraton with partner just for quick drink and watch band, quite a lot of groups of south/east asian ladies, who looked like they were 'looking for a friend' As we were leaving some arab guy was trying to get in with a lady, wasn't let in then he dissapears back to lift with his lady not really concerned in following him. She catches up then waits with two other women downstairs as the other guy appears to leave hotel get in his car and we see him and drive off.

In qube also last week we heading back up to couple area and girl we had seen earlier sat down in couples area with a guy, no other people was trying to get back upstairs to him, and the bouncer remarked - well i have seen her with three men!

There is some convention in Shanghai at the moment or maybe they fancied a change of scenery and frequent other bars now.

Also, if you read through the post fully you'd see that Gypsy has actually requested to update the list.

And you'd also have found this link to a similar list without the bits that upset you; http://www.qatarhappening.com/off-the-press/details.aspx?id=5&cid=13

moma - 3 things; the post is quite old, it was written partly tongue in cheek, and things aren't that far from what she mentioned.

You'll find prostitutes in every city of every country in the world. They'll have particular places where they hang out, and these places may change with time.

btw, if you don't know how to differentiate, how do you know they've stopped letting them in?

My understanding was that there is another place nearby where fellas go and hook up with one, and then they go into the hotel as a couple.

im getting this weird feeling that they're not letting me in tonight..

So we should be calling all of them Pro's. I found Gypsy's post quite revolting. Why create such a bad image when things are not even close to what he has mentioned.

I doubt if the majority of their clientele are bachelors - there's a lot of married guys who can't keep their trousers zipped too.

The Sheherazad hasn't been a pro workshop in the 2 years I've been going - but then, I leave before 8pm.

On the other hand, if they'd just ban "bachelors" then the prostitutes would be out of business. I think that's the better way.

By anonymous• 16 Apr 2009 11:45

I wonder how they make out if a lady is a prostitute? Is it written in the passport as "profession", or is it another "discrimination"??

I've been going there on and off for 18 months and can't recall seeing a prostitute in there, ever.

I think maybe people have seen an inappropriately dressed girl and though she must be a hooker. Shame on their narrow minds

I went there last night too. And there were no pros. I think people should check their fact before publishing it on a public forum.

Can't say I've ever even noticed prostitutes in Shehrazad!
