pathforward

My house maid ran away within a month of arrival. I was her second sponsor since she arrived here in Doha from end Ocober 2008. What shall I do now. I infromed the maid agency and they are asking me to wait unil they trace her. Could some one advice what shall be the process to be done or any time frame to inform the case to police.Since I recruited her through the agency they provide three months warranty for the service.

I passed through the same experience. Since you are still under the trial period of three months, you should ask the agency to replace her with a new one, don't hire her again even when they find her. Make pressure on them to give you a new one.DO NOT pay again, from any main.

exactly mandi, i know someone who within the first week of getting her maid, was accused of hitting her, and this woman wouldnt hurt a fly. It turned out she was homesick and wanted to go home, she later confessed to the agency..

Since the warranty is 3 months and she ran away within the said period, it's the responsibility of the agency to give you a replacement...OR

The agency should return all what you paid them for the maid...end of story.

Not necessarily, salax. I had a neighbor whose maid ran away. Although they were very nice people the maid had problems at home in the Philippines and didn't know how to tell them she didn't want to be here anymore. When my neighbor found her at the Embassy and they explained his options he just took her and put her on the plane home that night at his own expense.

If you go to the police they will put her in jail for two months before deporting her. Let the agency find her and just send her home, you don't want your maid in jail simply for running away.

Good question Supernurse : "Why did she run away?"

The agency should get you another one, once 3 months is up they won't replace her!Why did she run away?

And I thought only brides run.. I suggest you really should just wait for the maid agency to trace her but I won't recommend you to rehire her. Perhaps you can ask the agency for someone new.

cheers,

paul
