How to impress an employer?

Its been so long since I am classified to those people who are unemployed. As time goes by, I am pressured because there is too much competition with the profession I choose and due to my zero work experience as a medical professional and 9 months of being vacant, I've been thinking of what else should I present to be able to impress my current employers. I dont have yet any experience in dealing with other nationalities, what are the do's and dont's that I should consider.

I already had my job interviews before unfortunately all of them denied my application. ( And I think its because of work experience). What are the things I should be proud of even though I dont have work experience?

I will be having a job interview on Tuesday in one of the institution here in Qatar (not Hamad Corp) and I don't know if there will be chance for me to get that job.

Please decent comments only..

well - the employer clearly has already seen your CV. If your CV is honest, they know you have little experience! if they still invited you for an interview, then clearly experience is not the main thing they're looking for :o)

don't overthink it - be clear about why you want to move in to this specific profession, be honest (never ever lie! - experienced interviewer will just know it) and focus on your strengths, commitment, motivation and knowledge. show them what you can bring to the organisation. good luck!

What is this 'I don't know if there will be chance for me to get that job' ?

You have an interview, you got your chance!

Great professionals also begin as starters right? Thanks for all the comments, it really widens my perception in life. That's what I really need right now especially I'm now that I am in midst of despair because of being unemployed and still seeking a good institution that will accept me in the future.

.. and also bear in mind that the guys doing the interviews are not the Masters of it all. Its just that they have been at the jobs for such a long time that they know more about it then the newcomers do but probably once you get in to the company they will be resistant to your new ideas and your new, smart and professional manner of gettings the job done

Thanks for all your replies. I think most of job hunters had to experience this type of situation wherein you will be denied many times for you to be able to learn. You know guys, honestly, I hate being denied or disapproved, sometimes it makes me feel weak and depress and all of a sudden I feel like I'm a failure. However, life must move on though trials may arise.

I think most of job applicants had to experienced being tense, nervous but should be well prepared during job interview. If you get the slot, then you will be trained and probably be part of the company.

Does anyone here feel nervous during job interview? I think no one will say No..... Because I think its a normal reaction to crisis, like a job interview. :)

Not out here lady. I had this SL manager who you could tell the way he was looking at you that he had other things on his mind then your qualifications, your appearance, etc and from what I hear some of this employers / managers are just out to enrich themselves at the companys expense in a smart and professional manner.

First, dress professionally, be honest with your answers, look and sound confident.,and dont forget to put a smile on your face., it will make the atmosphere more relaxed during the interview.

Good luck :)

GOJ, upon reflection,I think you are probably right. I have seen this here in Qatar. Sometimes you might be perceived as a threat to their existence as they are so inept. Unlike some western countries where employers/managers see your strengths as opportunities not as threats, here the more they can control you and pull your strings, the better it is for them.

Wait. watch and listen. Not all employers or should I say managers want you to be a productive worker some of them want you to be a silent or willing partner in the looting process. They want you to go along with them for the greater good of themselves and their pockets

I hate to see you in this situation. Have you ever taken any feedback from your previous interviews? You might learn where you went wrong.

You have to tell your interviewer that you feel the profession has let you down. Everyone starts a job without experience. Even your interviewer. Let him know that. Then tell him why you have to be offered a position and what change you can bring. Examine what is lacking among your contemporaries and provide solutions how you would overcome. Once I was asked to describe myself. I described myself in three words: ABLE AND RELIABLE and RESULTS ORIENTATED. From that, I developed. I was hired. Google interview techniques. You will find a lot of questions and answers. Also, prepare a few questions to ask at the interview. NEVER leave the interview without asking at least one question. Even if they do not ask you to, impose yourself and tell them you have a few questions for them.

I wish you good luck.

It is difficult to get your foot in the door. Be sincere. Tell them about your good points. You like to work with people. You are willing to start at the bottom and be judged on your work and effort.

Good Luck!
