Specially Pls. don't go to the Vodafone Villagio store. The manager is very rude and when I complaint about my problem she asked me to leave.

But the HTC magic here in Qatar , the anderiod market is not built in with the phone. only the anderoid platform.

So no use and we are not able to get the feature what we are expecting.

Also I feel the service and assistance from vodaphone counter is very poor.

I feel they don't care customers.

Better to go with Qtel .

i bougt it new:)your friend from vf was half right.in my home country the phones are loked because you can get them at a cheaper price but with a contract(1 year or 2 years).so is normal that if a telco is giving you a cheaper handset it will expect from you to use its services:) also companies sign exclusivity contracts. for example blackbery storm 2 will launch exclusively for vodafone in some markets in europe.

vodafone qatar doesn't lock its phones because they don't sell their connections with contracts.maybe it s a question of the type of sim that you have from qtel...

By anonymous• 23 Oct 2009 01:55
anonymous

jorj once it is unlocked by the illegal or pirated softwares, it can be used with any network in the world. maybe the guy who sold it to you had it unlocked already by using these softwares. I was speaking earlier in the day to a guy who has been working for Vodafone for past 2 years and he told me that this phone in its original form can't be used without Vodafone.

So either it is true or that bugger is a really lousy sales manager for Vodafone...

Just do a quick google search though mjamille and you should be able to find the unlock codes for Vodaphone and then you can use Q-Tel.

Ya, the Magic is the older one, therefore cheaper. Here's the one I got http://www.htc.com/www/product/dream/overview.html and I've unlocked it and I'm using Q-Tel.

Olive, they sell the Magic for 2199.. then they slashed 200 off it if you buy online.. but i was told it was locked to Vodafone... :(

By Olive• 22 Oct 2009 13:21
Olive

Mine's not the magic, it's the Dream, and altogether it cost 2000 QR. I don't know how much Vodaphone is selling them for, but before I left the magic was selling for around 4000 QR unlocked.

Since it was launched by Vodafone, i would assume it comes only with Vodafone. This was supposed to propel them in the mobile internet market. I am not too sure you can use other sim cards with it..
